How often do you go?

My family lives in East Texas and we've been going to WDW more frequently the past few years with young children. We went last December and I just got the bug to go back (or maybe the bug is just to plan another trip) so I'm planning a trip for late Nov/Dec. this year.

I think going once a year, while it is a little indulgent, is OK. My DH thinks I'm crazy, but has already given in to my obsession. He thinks the only people who should go this often are people who live within easy driving distance to Orlando.

I agree that maybe it won't be the best idea with an 18 mo old DS (sister is 4). But it makes me happy to have something to look forward to. And even though it is harder to go there (or anywhere) with very young children, I feel that WDW is a place that you can go and do, while being a place that is tolerant/understanding of the little ones if there is the occasional melt-down.

Anyone else who lives fairly far away go regularly?

We're from Illinois and we used to go every other year. The last few times it was every few years because it costs so much. I love to go and would like to go at least every other year, my husband has fun there but would like to go to new places.

It seems like we go every 6 months! We are going 3x this year! :cheer2: Are we crazy? Maybe, but we just love it there! princess:

Well, we just got back in early June from Disney and I must say I have the itch to go again already(this was the first time we stayed onsite and had both of our kids along). Disney is one of those things I believe must be saved for because it is pricey! We are from Indiana so we usually fly down there. I am planning a trip again for October of next year(2007). My DH also thinks I am crazy because he can't understand what is so special about a trip there :confused3 ! So, I think every year and a half or so is good. I would love to go more often, but the budget just won't allow it!

I'd like to go every year but there is no way we can afford to right now with me not working. We are splurging and going this year and I figure we can afford to go again in another 3-4 years (2009-2010). Once I go back to work I figure we'll be able to swing going every other year.

Growing up, we went every 2 months. Mostly 3 day weekend trips, then a big trip in May or December.

Then I wasn't able to go for two years (I moved to worcester for college) and now I'm going like 3 times a year because I know how to manage my classes and still get to visit the mouse.

I had originally planned to go every four (!) years, but then my ex-husband obligingly moved to Florida, so now I go at least once a year to accompany the Dkids when they fly down to visit him. Usually I get in one short solo trip and one short trip with the Dkids. Our regularly scheduled every-four-years long vacation is coming up in 43 days, though. :)

When we started planning our 2003 trip we thought the next one wouldn't be for about 5 years! Well that's the trip we got the bug. We went in August 2003, July 2004, July 2005, January 2006 and have trips planned for July 2006 and January 2007 already. We know now that we'll go at least once and year, and as long as DH keeps on runnng the marathon we'll go twice.

July is our long trip (over two weeks) and January is a short trip (5 nights/6 days). We're from NJ. Thank goodness for Air Tran and Southwest flying out of Philly, that way we're able to keep the transportation cost down.

Thanks for your replies. We usually drive, but it's such a long time in the car. I've been looking at airfare and yeeouch it's a lot. Probably a good reason for us to space the trips out a bit (keeping this next one, of course)!

Our first trip was September 2005. We fell in love! It's the easiest place on earth with a young child. We've been on some other vacations with her and nothing even compared to the ease and satisfaction of WDW. We went again with my parents in March 2006 to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. We're going this September for the free dining again! That's 3 times in 12 months! Agree with the above poster regarding Air Tran and Southwest. They really help!

Lucky for dd and I, my dh totally "got" the magic and loves it just as much as we do.

we are one of the lucky ones who live about 3-4 hours south of the mouse! for the past 2 years we have gone 3 or 4 times each year .. so far this year we went in may for mothers day weekend, we are taking a mommy and daddy only trip in september, going in october for mnsshp, and of course with friends in december for mvmcp and to celebrate birthdays. if i could we would schedule a quick trip before school starts back in august...we love it there!!!!!!!

we drive from san antonio every year. we missed have missed a time or two becase of the ages of our children. we just got back in june and I am working on plans for our next trip. the cost of flying is too pricy for us. it is cheaper to rent a car and drive down.

Where in East Texas do you live? We are in Nacogdoches. We are going for the first time in July, but I'm already deciding how much we'd need to put back to go again next year. I was thinking Thanksgiving/Christmas time though. That way it would be a year and a half. We'll see if it works out though.

DVC members and buy annual pass and try to go 3 times in one year then off one year.

At least once a year, preferably twice.

With annual passes, we seem to follow a similar pattern. We will try to squeeze 3 trips on one pass. So, for instance, we went last June, last December and then another trip this June before the pass expired. Now we probably won't go again until at the earliest May of next year where we will probably buy annual passes again and try to get in 3 trips.

We were down in 2004 for our honeymoon. Then again in March of this year, we were going to wait until next year but we miss it so badly that we're heading down again in October. We're planning two trips in 2007, a trip in May/June for a Star Wars weekend and again the week after Thanksgiving through the first week of December to experience Christmas at Disney! We haven't done either and I've been doing to WDW since I was a kid (1974 was my first trip.)

We're just junkies for Disney in this house, I suppose it's good that my DH shares my love of Disney, and it wasn't too difficult to get our DD on board. :)

We went in September of 2005 (our first time as a family - DH, DD, DS, and me). We loved it so much we are going back (more free dining) in one month - August. I am trying to convince my hubby that we should go back in March 2007 for the rumored Pirate/Princess party hard ticket event. Poor guy, we haven't even gone on the August 2006 trip and I'm already working on the next 2007 trip....he'll say yes eventually. He's a sucker for the kids and loves the Wilderness Lodge.
