How Often Do You Get Your Room/Building Request Honored?

I have put in requests with CRO on several of my WDW trips and I can only remember one time where my request was actually honored. It was at CBR.
I requested a certain building in Martinique and I got it.

I put in a request today for either one of two buildings at CSR and was just wondering how often lately people have had their room or building requests honored.

I've been close to 30 times and made specific requests on the last 10 or so trips. At the deluxes, I always get my requests and have also gotten some amazing upgrades (YC, BC, Poly, CR, GF, BWI). At the moderates, I've had less luck. I stayed at CSR, did not get my request, and had to wait until 3:30pm to even get a room.

Never got our room request at POP, ASSports, POR, POFQ or CSR.

Finally got exactly what we requested at our favorite resort ... Animal Kingdom Lodge!

When I stayed at CSR for a convention last August, I put in a last-minute request for the Casitas building. I got it, but I had to wait until 4:30pm for my room.

Everytime except once. Back in 2000 when we stayed at Dixie Landings, we wanted to stay in the Magnolia Bend section, and requested that...but, they were not able to acommodate us, we ended up in AB.

Luckily when we returned in 2006, now POR we got to stay in the mansion rooms! Which we did prefer over AB.

The only time I didn't get my request met was when I requested a North Wing CR room, and they took the entire wing down for rehab the day I checked in. Otherwise, I've had them met. I do try to keep my requests fairly generic, such as upper floor, first floor, close or far from lobby/elevators/parking, etc. The more generic your request can be, the better your chances of having it met. If you ask for a specific room, or specific location, you may be out of luck if someone else requested the same thing and checked in yesterday.

Every time but that's because I check-in by 9:30am - 10am. I'm usually one of the first to check-in so the sky's the limit.

I have had good luck and have always gotten my reqests.
I stick with things like Top Floor, away from pool, pretty simple.
I always go during slower times, maybe that is why I have good luck with requests.

I think we've only made requests three times.Twice we requested connecting rooms at CBR and we got those. This past April we requested to be near the food court and received a room in Aruba which seemed pretty close to me especially compared to Trinidad South where we stayed last time.:)

Honestly I think it will depend upon when you go. We recently went in 2005 and 2006 and both times we got our request. One was for an upgrade at AKL and the other was to get adjoining rooms with one room being handicap accessible at CSR. We requested near the main entrance as well. Got all of it. They couldn't guarantee the adjoining rooms, but in the end we got it. Both times we went during the Value season so I think that had a lot to do with it. We made a lot of phone calls throughout the planning phase.

I've made requests when I first booked the reserveration but made sure to mention it again on check in. Only when I say it to teh CM standing in front of me, has my request been honored. It cracks me up when they say, "Oh, it says right here 'requests building 123'. I wonder why they didn't take care of that?"

I've had great luck. Twice I asked to be close to a room that we'd had before and liked and both times they put us right back in that exact room. On our first trip, I made the rookie mistake of asking for too much and we had to get moved because they didnt have the one thing we really needed.

When we went to the Contemporary last June we requested adjoining rooms in the South Garden Wing with patios and a good view. We got two great rooms that were perfect!

I have been successful on most of my trips. We usually stay at CBR and always request Aruba. I booked on line for our most recent trip in June and there was a section where you could make additional requests and I indicated that I love staying in Aruba and when we checked in our room was in Aruba- Building 51. We had a great room with a courtyard view. I was really surprised because we checked in pretty late in the day - around 9:30 p.m. In December of 2005, we checked in really late and nothing was available in Aruba. They gave us a room in Trinidad South (I think)! The CM was really nice and told me that we could move to Aruba the next morning so it worked out really nice.

It is true though that if you check in early in the day, you will most likely get your request.

I'm wondering this too.. Especially if there is a request for a room/section AND connecting rooms. Does that decrease the likelihood of getting your request?

At CSR, it really depends on your section, and what is going on at the time you are there. Casitas is closest to the convention areas, and can be harder to get into depending on what conventions are there. Cabanas are the most requested because of their location to pool and El Centro. We requested Cabanas our first trip, and did not get it. Ranchos are further from everything, and easiest to get room requests met. We ended up here our first trip and loved it. This past June we requested Ranchos 7A, third floor, and were given a gorgeous corner room overlooking the gardens. We have been given our room both stays at check-in (9 AM.) A specific room request, or detailed requests may cause you to have an extended wait for your room. FYI: Ranchos is thr quietest section in the resort, and they have a shuttle stop in the courtyard for convenience.

We made our first trip in September of 2003.
We were fortunate enough to luck in to POR for our first stay.
We have stayed at POR every September since then and always had our building request honored. ( we never asked for specific rooms other than connecting and smoking, and always got those as well)
We go again in 49 days, and anticipate the same good fortune.

I've been to the WL twice and got exactly what I asked for both times. I requested a room facing Bay Lake the first time. The second time I requested a MK view on the Club Level.

The only time I had my requests met... was when we didn't actually request... lol

In 2001, we were upgraded to the Polynesian from POR :faint: (like that will ever happen again!) and we had made no requests. At the front desk, we asked to be in a room with a balcony (this was pre-obsessive days for me) and ended up in Rarotonga overlooking the quiet pool.

In 2002, I had requested AB for our POR stay by email a few weeks before arrival. We were placed in MB section, but the CM changed it after I asked to be moved to AB. Our second trip that year we were staying at CBR. We made no requests (saw how well it did for POR  ) and at check-in requested a room as close to the main building as possible with adjoining door to our traveling family friends. Rooms were ready (11am!) in Jamaica 46 with adjoining door to our friends. LOVED IT

In 2003, we repeated the process at CBR check-in (only needed 1 room) and were placed in Aruba 51. EVEN BETTER!

This year at Pop, I made several requests (the dis made me do it :rolleyes1 ) 60s or 70s section, higher floor, lake view, and adjoining rooms. We ended up in 50s section, ground floor, facing the parking lot, but at least we got adjoining rooms. It worked in my favor though, as after walking the resort, we greatly preferred the 50s section over any other section, no matter how far we had to walk and the ground floor location was not as bad as we thought!

For the upcoming trip, we booked preferred, and marked on the reservation "close to check-in due to medical"... and I'm leaving it at that! Nothing else, no way jose, I'm not listening to the Dis this time! I'll sort it out at check-in!

I will admitt that I do travel during slower seasons, but that doesn't seem to be effecting resort capacity anymore!
