We'll be in a one bd for 5 nights at HHI this coming July. I hear about so many great restaurants on HHI. When at HHI, does your family eat out every night, or make meals in the villa? We have 3 kids ages 7, 4 and 1.5 I'm sure we'll eat breakfast and lunch in the villa most days, but was wondering about dinner. There just seem like so many places to try.

We actually don't do alot of eating out at HHI. We eat breakfast at the villa, we usually pack lunch for the beach or somedays we buy lunch at the Beach House. We buy the refillable mugs so that takes care of our drinks. For dinner the kids always like doing the Tues. BBQ followed by the pool party. Another night we walk over to the marina to eat dinner at one of their restaurants, (Seafood, Mexican, Italian) shop and listen to a Shannon Tanner concert. And we usually pick another night to go to a restaurant somewhere else on the island in a different plantation. There are loads to try, hard to pick, but all have been good! Other dinners we do in the villa also. It lets us have more "fun" time that way. The kids start complaining if we have to eat out every night. They like to be doing activities better than dressing and eating out!

Its a great place, we leave on Sat and can't wait!!

We go out to eat every night. Well, except tonight-for the first time in 8 trips here, we are grilling..but we ate lunch out today at the Salty Dog so it all evens out.

I prefer to eat out. HHI...soooo many restaurants, soooo little time! :goodvibes We do have breakfast & lunch in the room alot, though! :thumbsup2

Vacation to me = eating out. We'll do breakfasts in and most lunches while we're there but I plan on dinners out...hopefully some will provide leftovers for lunch the next day.

(PS) we use studios so meal preparation is limited...

We will normally eat out once per trip at a nice restaurant. One night we will use the grill and cook chicken, hamburgers, steaks, etc and use that for dinners and lunch's.

We rarely eat out. We almost always go with my sister and we dual grocery shop and grill almost every night. Love it! It's like totally upscale but relaxing camping.

If we are staying in a Studio we eat out every night. If 1BR, out of 5 nights we will eat out 3 of the 5 and cook the other 2 nights. We usually eat breakfast out 1 morning (Stacks) and eat in rest of mornings. We do this regardless of whether we stay in a Studio or 1 BR. Lunch varies, depending upon whether we ride out somewhere.

Thanks. It's just so hard to choose between all of the restaurants. I know the kids will be sick of eating out. Especially since we will probably eat out during our drive down and back.
We'll just have to pick a couple, and save the others for next year, and the year after... ;)

We usually eat out about once a day. Most days we eat out at lunchtime-DH golfs in the morning, while I read, do resort activities, or read The Island Packet in Big Murgie's Den (we go off-season, thus no beach). Usually we go out to breakfast once, when DH actually skips golf. We used to go to Signe's, but we're thinking of trying the Sunrise Cafe next time. I agree with someone who said previously-so many resturants, so little time.

I have a 7 yo and a 3 yo. Before my 3 yo came along I would say I would eat out every night. It is too hard and stressful to eat out a bunch now so we grill out relax and enjoy our children at HHI. Which is really funny because I eat out at home all of the time. I guess I am too relaxed to deal with it in Hilton Head. Good Luck and have fun!:thumbsup2

Our habits depend on our group. If it's just my wife and I plus minus the kids and related, we normally eat out one large meal a day (often lunch) and not uncommonly a second smaller meal. We usually have breakfast in though often danish, cereal and muffins. For larger groups which we do much less eating out due in part to the additional complexities and also the lower means of some of those along. We don't want to put anyone in an uncomfortable spot if we can help it.
