How often do you check for available rooms?

I'm trying to get a specific (aka the cheapest) room category at the Polynesian for two nights of my September trip. This is a somewhat late decision as a compromise to an all Poly-stay.

I'm not seeing availability for my dates, only a three day stay (which always makes me cringe when I want to stay two days). How often do you check the Disney site to see if standard rooms have opened up?

Should I just book a different room category and hope for the discount or book a standard room for one night longer than I want to stay at the Poly?

I checked every day when I booked the play stay dine package at pop. I was able to change mine from standard pool view to standard eventually. I think I checked continuously for a week or more.

So you only checked once a day? And what time of day were you typically checking? I'm trying not to be obsessive about it, but I know I will be.

I probably checked 2-3 times a day. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon and again later that night. It was important to me that we didn’t have a pool view so I just kept checking.

If the dates are during free dining, check right when the free dining offer drops. Free dining can be very hard to come by for poly so you may have a few people switching resorts for that reason. We switched from the poly to grand Floridian on free dining day last year because it ended up being a tad bit cheaper and was my moms dream resort.

Interesting. Hadn’t thought of that particular time to pay special attention to. I’m not particularly interested in free dining, so hopefully I can snag something after someone resort hops.

I would book the standard room for one night longer than you want to stay. Then call Disney in a few days and ask to speak to Guest Services. Ask if they can remove the extra night off of your reservation.

To reach Guest Services, do I call a different number than the reservations number? I’m seeing a 939-5277 number?

That number will work. Just tell the CM that answers that you need to speak to Guest Services about a reservation issue. There's no direct number to Guest Services.
