How often DO they change the sheets?

Do the Disney resorts tell you how often they change the sheets now, or do they just say, "To save energy we don't change sheets every day...", AND, can you politely ask at check in for your sheets to be changed every day, if that's what you want, or do you have to call housekeeping?

Thanks to all, and Happy Holidays.

Not sure if you can request to have sheets changed everyday, but I know I don't change my sheets everyday at home, and since I know I am the only one sleeping in that bed in the hotel, I don't find it very necessary to change the sheets everyday there. Maybe you can call the hotel in advance to find out what the policy is.

At the prices that they charge for the rooms, they should change the sheets everyday, If not then a discount is in order.

They definitely do NOT change them everyday. We recently stayed at the YC and there was no notice saying anything about changing sheets. However, one of my sons had an accident in the night and I left a note for our mousekeeper requesting the sheets be changed and on which bed. Upon arriving at 9 pm I checked the sheets and noticed the sheets were definitely NOT changed. I called Housekeeping immediately and they came and changed them, about ½ hour later. If you want your sheets changed, leave a couple of notes - one on the bed, itself, just in case.

I'm pretty sure it's either 3 or 4 days. So, that's probably once during your stay. I read it in some tiny print amounst all the brochures they give you when you check in! It did say they would change more frequently upon request.

Does anyone know when this started?

Personally, I really don't mind. We shower before bed so our sheets stay pretty clean. ;) It really does help the environment by cutting down on the soap, etc.

Wow! Do you really change your own sheets every day when at home? I'm feeling like a really bad housekeeper right now.....

I know that back in 1996 when we stayed in CBR they did not change the sheets every day. They had a specific "note" in our room stating so and also said that if you didn't put the towels in the tub or on the floor that they wouldn't take them to wash.

BTW - I change our sheets once a week unless it's a sweaty summer night. Now we have central air, it'll go back to once a week.

Having taken part in cost analysis for the hospitality industry, I can tell you that energy, water and detergent usage for guest laundry services is a large portion of a hotel's operating cost. The resorts are expensive (too expensive without a major discount IMHO) but they have a set amount of profit they attempt to make per room night. The laundry costs are factored in. While we would like to think they are just concerned about the environment, it is a cost issue. I only expect from a hotel what I am willing to do at home, after all that's what I want it to feel like. The usual timeframe is no change for stays three nights or less. Please request if you want more, my parents love fresh crisp sheets each night when staying away from home. To each his own, the mousekeepers and management have never turned down a reasonable request from me. Now if the sheets haven't been changed b-e-f-o-r-e I arrive, that's another story!

I wish they would change the sheets every day. To me it's part of the luxury of staying at a resort. I appreciate walking into a bathroom with all freshly hung towels, and I would appreciate crawling into a bed with fresh smelling sheets.

Of course most of us don't put fresh sheets on daily, but vacations are getting away from our normal routines. There are just times when we return from a looong day at the parks and all four of us do not have the time or energy to shower before hitting the pillow. Also, there are those late night dips in which you come back and don't always take a shower before bed.

This is just how I feel, but I let it slide and don't ask for special treatment even though I'm thinking now maybe I should because we certainly are paying a high enough price to make that request. If nothing else, I wish they would at least put fresh pillow cases on daily.

I think it depends on where you stay or what level. At AKL concierge, they change the sheets daily. We found this out because my DD's blanket was missing the day before we were checking out. I went to the concierge desk to inquire about it and was told that the sheets are changed everyday and that if they find it in the wash, they would sent it to us FedEx. Needless to say...we had clean sheets everyday, but we've been back a little over two weeks and no blanket yet. My DD is not happy at all.

I'd ask for special treatment. I agree with you that this is part of the reason we stay at a resort. Getting away from the day to day routines is what makes going on vacation fun.

Sheets are changed every 4 days.

Like someone else said...you don't change your sheets every day at home, so why have them changed every day at disney.

They change the sheets between every other guest, or if someone wets the bed they will change them that day only. If the bed is wet two days in a row, there will be an extra charge.

Sheets at the Swan are changed every 3 or 4 nights (can't remember what the sign said). We sayed AKL concierge last December and the sheets were not changed every day. We were in the room twice when mousekeeping came in and she only made the bed each time. So if AKL concierge changes sheets every day, it is something that is new since 12/02 or somthing that they started doing after that date.

Do you mean between every guest or every other guest? I would hope its every guest. I would hate to check in and have someone else's dirty sheets on my bed. ICK!

That definitely does not seem correct. Maybe the bedspread or blanket?

As a dental hygienist, I have the even more detailed question of how often they clean the bedspreads and blankets!!!! I am most certainly germ and bodily fluid phobic due to my four years of cross-contamination training!

Also... can you request clean spreads and blankets if desired?

Thanks

I think you'd better ask if you want your sheets change- however often. When I stayed at ASMu- the first night I came in really late (late flight, used Mears, arrived to room after checkin at 2am!) and I crashed- makeup and all. There was mascara on the sheet & pillow- it was still there when I checked out 10 days later. I kept thinking SURELY they are going to change the sheets soon.... surely... but I was wrong.
I asked the front desk about it when I checked out- and they said their policy is to not change the sheets except in between guests UNLESS it's requested sooner. So basically you could stay there however long and not get the sheets changed unless you asked for it to be done. I don't change my sheets daily at home either- but I don't go 10 days without changing them and certainly not if they are visibly dirty.

They have changed my sheets at the Poly on a daily basis on my 3 trips there. I know there is a sign stating they don't change them daily but our mousekeeper always did. Maybe it was because she liked our tips! Anyway I do not change my sheets daily at home but I also do not eat in my bedroom, like we do at the resort with rooms service. We also do not use my home bedrooms as hangouts. We have a family room for that. We also tend to flop on the beds at the resorts in the clothes we were in the parks wearing. Not that we roll around on the sheets in our street clothes but it is still more then we would ever do at home. Compared to the usage the resort bed gets compared to home I believe they should change the sheets daily. Who wants to sleep on old sheets while on vacation? Not me!

So, then what about the bedspreads and blankets? How often do they get washed and if we want could we aske them to be washed also? We will be staying at the Port Orleans Riverside.
