I booked a room at POR with free dining for late August. I love POR and will be happy to stay there if it's all I can get, but I am dying to try one of the Family Suites at ASMu. None were available when I booked my trip. We are a family of five and would be so much more comfortable there. It's more $$$ but I do think it would be worth it.

The CM at CRO said "keep calling to check, we get cancellations all the time." How often should I check? Would every day be overkill?

We are a family of 5 (including Grandma) and have stayed at POR previously, and will be staying there again this Sept. For the amount of time we spent in the resort, I would definetly reccommed it. The kids both wanted to sleep on the trundle bed, and had to take turns to make it fair. The family suites do look nice, but don't feel like you're "settleing" if you stay at POR.

Well I would call back every day if it was me. You can always check Disney web site during the time frame & then book it & then call Disney to cancel the one you have, just a suggestion so no one else would grab it up ;)

When I booked my vacation for myself & Dh & another for my DS & DIL I wanted two room in the Yacht Club Resort Club level Lagoon view. They had two but while she was booking mine someone else got the other room so I had to get my DS & DIL a garden view. She told me to keep calling back in case. One week I called in to make a payment on both & I asked if there was another lagoon view for my son none. Later that morning like 30 minutes had passed, I was paying around on the Disney web site & low & behold there was a lagoon view there so I call back hoping a CM would answer before I could finish booking online. Well she did & was able to get the lagoon view room for me. I told her that I was going to booked online & was at the final stage where you hit pay deposit. She laugh & said I made it to her on time then. Told her it was funny as none was there 30 minutes ago but now it open up. She said maybe the person's 10 days was up or some pixie dust blew my way.:cloud9:
So you can't go wrong calling & hoping. Good Luck :goodvibes

I say call as often as you feel comfortable with because people cancel all the time and you never know when a cancellation is going to happen. You could always check the website daily to see if that's showing any availability:confused3 . If you find it available there, call CRO at that time. But I would still call CRO periodically as the website and CRO sometimes shows different availability. Good luck and I hope you get what you want:goodvibes.

I've actually been checking room availability for the free dining promotion since I want to switch to a standard view room at the WL. It seems there is more availability in the morning than in the evening. Perhaps they release a bunch of rooms in the morning.
