How often are E-Night tickets sold out?

We're arriving at CR on Friday, Aug 15 and we'll want to pick up an E-Night ticket for same night. How often do they sell out and is it possible/likely that they will sell out before we arrive? Can you purchase them through the resort in advance of your arrival?

We are staying offsite the previous night and I was thinking of going directly to the Studios Friday morning. We may need to do an early check-in at CR instead. It will be hard to move 4 teen girls early enough to go to resort prior to MGM :o

We've been using e-ticket nights since it began, many moons ago. We never buy our tickets until the afternoon of the event. Mostly because we don't want to do it if the weather is nasty. We have never had a problem getting tickets for the event no matter when we've gone (we go to WDW 5 times a year for vacation--we're not locals). If you would like to do a early check in at CR, why not just leave the girls back at the room to get ready and you zip over to CR and checkin. The entire party does not have to be there when you check in. Granted I'm assuming you are renting a car since you are offsite. But now I would feel awlful if this was the first time e-ticket has ever sold out, but mid-August the crowds should start dying down and the parks should start thining out. With the FTP, all the rules have changed, especially reading these boards lately about how crowded the parks and water parks and resorts are. We will be there for our NEXT trip July 23-Aug 2 and plan to do 2 different e-ticket nights, mostly because we are at the CR too and won't have to deal with transportation.

Our resort (POR) was sold out once. It was either last year or the year before. We didn't go to buy tickets until the morning of the event and were informed it was sold out. (I assumed they meant the whole thing.)
I never checked but can you buy the tickets somewhere other than your resort?

I am quite sure that if they were sold out...that means they have reached the maximum tickets to sell, REGARDLESS of where you are purchasing. Disney would never miss an opportunity to sell a ticket. I have purchased e-night tickets at my resort, other resorts and at City Hall at MK and have taken each and every opportunity to ask each CM what the sales are limited to and the answer I get (when I get one ) is 5000 people. In my opinion if you were to find the e-night sold out you would have a mixed blessing...a shame to miss enight, however a sold out e-night can be worse as you paid extra and will find the rides quite crowded with only 9 rides divided among 5000 people!
I tend to agree with the logic of buying the afternoon of the e-night to avoid a too crowded e-night!
Good Luck

Only experience is with E-Ride in March and May - minimal lines and no sold out nights

I agree with the poster who advised to buy the ticket on the afternoon of the e ride night. We bought our in the morning on our trip in August/September 2001.

By the late afternoon huge black clouds appeared in the sky and it bucketed down for the whole of the e ride night. The accompanying thunder and lightning meant that Splash and BTM was closed. We rode Buzz and Space Mountain many times that night! Luckily the lightning stopped JUST before the end of the night and we went back to Frontierland to find that the 'mountains' had just re-opened and we rode both a couple of times with NO lines at all.

We are going in July this time and wondered how late we dare leave it if we want e ride tickets (can you still buy tickets just before e ride night starts?)- it wouldn't be no big deal if we didn't get to do it this time though - and I wouldn't want to go if they had reached capacity anyhow.

Just for verification - they DO sell out. Tried to buy them on morning in March 2000 and we were out of luck!
