BUT...this list is completely, totally the wrong survey group for this question. Folks are on Disboards because they are willing to research their trip, and figure out details for themselves. And the folks on the BUDGET board esp. are looking out for their money, to ensure they get the most for their dollar - I believe most of us are even more unlikely to pay someone for a service we can do ourselves, and think anyone who would pay for such a service is just plain nuts

Now I don't think it's nuts because I pay for a lot of things I simply hate to do. I am never, ever going to cut my grass myself. EVER. LOL. I hate the chore with a passion so I'm resigned for the rest of my life I have to pay for that service when I have 2 lawnmowers an edger and all the other gadgets sitting in my shed. go figure but I feel t he money I spent to save my sanity is worth every nickel.

I do agree that this is the wrong place to get a real answer to that question.

question: isn't a Disney vacation planner a TA who specializes in Disney or are they 2 different things.

If I were looking to do this as a business, I'd contact my local community ed. I'd offer a $10 course on a Saturday (maybe $25, but they get a copy of Birnbaums - not my favorite guide, but the easiest). Four hours that would talk them through budgets, onsite vs. offsite. Onsite hotel options. Tickets (hop or not). Layout of the parks. Strollers. Touring plans. Deciding if you need sit down meals, do you need a car. Like 1-5 on a Saturday. Finish it off with "Kimbe's top ten tips."

Give them your email address and let them know that you are available for private consultation. I wouldn't pay for it - and if I did, I wouldn't pay more than $10 an hour - but to make it worthwhile you should charge $25.

I wouldn't mention DVC points unless someone starts talking about wanting suites or condos. In which case I'd simply bring up renting pool homes, going through VBRO or skyaction, or David's if they want DVC.

Not a cent. Disney information is plentiful and available for free. For the people who think they need help, there are lots of travel agents who specialize in Disney and you don't pay them. The only way this niche would work is if you were marketing to foreign travelers and probably even then, it would need to be countries where visiting WDW is not common (not Britain or Brazil).

If I'm going to pay for travel planning, it's going to be because I'm going to rural India or China or somewhere like that where good information isn't readily available.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay either. If I use a TA, it's so somebody else can deal with getting my reservation.

I think Crisi's idea is good.

OK, so I admit I posed this question wrong. I should not have said "how much YOU pay" because like I stated before I know most people on the boards (including myself) wouldn't pay for someone to plan my Disney vacation. But there are people out there that would.

And point taken- the Budget Board was not the best forum to ask this question.

With few exceptions I can't imagine anyone paying for this.

The exception is crisi's idea. That is a good one!
