Hey! I am trying to complete a project and am supposed to estimate home insurance on a property. I have tried all kinds of online calculators, but they all want to contact me. We have a "friend" who is an agent, but is not very reliable and has yet to call me back! Anyway, I know the cost can vary on a lot of factors, but if you could give me an idea, that'd be great. Thanks!

OK, totally rough estimate but here goes; we are in IL, have a 4bd 2.5 bt with 1k deductable and pay abotu $800/yr. I would guess that house to be a bit less, say about $650 with the same deductable.

HTH!

There is so much involved.

Not only does it include the value of the house, but the limits of liability which you want, how close to the nearest fire hydrant, what type of construction, the degree of coverage as far as contents. etc., etc.

Also -if you are in a flood zone it may add $150 a month-that happened to someone I know who just bought a home.

Getting those quotes is the only sure way.
I pay $1,000 a year for a 2010 sqft single story all electric house in California.
A 2 story should be less because you have less house to rebuilt.
Having Natural Gas might hike the cost (because all electric houses don't blow up, sorry had a couple of those here recently).
And of course, location, location, location.

Is there a house with the garage? Sorry!!! It looks like all garage. That's it, I have no idea about insurance in IL. Call the owner and ask.

The biggest factor with rates these days is your CREDIT REPORT. Someone with great credit (if this were in our area) could be paying as little as about $350/year or up to someone with the worst credit paying over $1000/year.

If you just need a number I would put it in the $500-600 range.

you can get quotes online from actual insurance companies.. That is a TON better then asking here when there a so many variables.

Yep, too many variables. Location, fire dept rating, type construction, hydrants, credit score, past claims history, other policies with the same company.

Thanks for the input. I want to reiterate: This was for one small part of a math class project. I would not be asking you about this if I were really looking for quotes! I just wanted to see if I could get a ballpark. Thanks again!

$800-850 a year.

That's a nice estimate based on how much I pay for our previous in town residence, our current rural residence, and our farmhouse.

Oh, whew, OK. I was going to talk to you about finding out where the sun hits the house b/c we lived in nearly that same sort of house (except it was a townhouse, and narrower), and it was AWFUL, since the living room windows were opposite from the sunshine, so it was always dark and cold in the living room, and blasting burning furnace hot in the master bedroom above the garage, as it got sun All Day Long.

But I don't have to do that! Whew!:upsidedow

This flood insurance would not be part of their regular homeowner's insurance, it would be a flood policy through FEMA, just an FYI.
