I was wondering after reading the trip reports, how much weight was gained on the 14 day cruise. It seems that a lot of beer and food was going around,so what was your total weight gain? :mickeybar :p

Hubby and I both lost, and we ate any and everything we wanted to.

I gained 11lbs but my wife lost weight - they reckon on the average passenger gaining approx 1lb a day on the cruise. :drinking1

I gained 20-30 pounds.

No, i'm just kidding.. i didnt gain any.......

We weren't on the 14, but just got back from the 7day and I gained 7, DH gained 14, and DS gained 15lbs. Clothes were definately snug the last few days. And we always took the stairs (except after a large meal).

We figured out that at home the total time a day we have to eat 3 meals is about 1-1/2 hours. On the ship we figured we were eating 5hrs a day! What a difference!

Back to Atkins!

O.K. :rolleyes1

Well, I ate (and drank) everything I wanted. :earboy2:
Walked the stairs and the prominade faithfully.
Gained 12 pounds. Arrrggg. pirate:
That's alright. That was over 17 days. On our last 7 day cruise, I gained 8. It'll come off.

I wasn't on the 14 day but we recently took at 7 day (followed by two park days). I weighed myself before and after just for the purpose of this kind of question. I actually lost a pound. :confused3

We certainly ate whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and weren't afraid to use the elevators. Sadly, I figure it's just a testament to how inactive I am at home but I'll take it.

This may sound stupid--I know how weight loss works (I lost 36 pounds a few years ago and have managed to keep 30 of it off), and I realize that everyone is different and has different metabolism, etc., but I'm curious about the differences between those who gained weight and those who didn't: Do you think it was due mainly to your activity level? I mean, if you lost, did you feel you were more active than normal and if you gained, did you feel you were less active or than or about the same as you normally are? And how much do you think alcohol consumption played a role?

I'm expecting to gain about 5 pounds :( on our 7-day cruise coming up on July 2 :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc, but hoping that if I'm active enough and avoid alcohol, it will be less. Even so, I don't want to ruin my vacation worrying about it. When we go to DL, I usually maintain. I eat whatever I want, but we're walking so much it evens out. I don't know if the cruise will be that active. I guess the worst case is that I'll be back to Weight Watchers a little more often in July and August. :grouphug:

:teeth: one thing that I did on our last cruise was to eat more fruit. At dinner ,I didn't eat a lot of beef but I'm not a big beef eater any way. Chicken is my meat of choice and not eating a lot of the rich dessert helps. Just play it by ear and you will be alright. Plus they have lighter meals and you can add things that you like or take away those things that are less appealing. Just keep me away from the bacon at breakfeast. :teeth: ;)

I wasn't on the 14 day either, but I will 'weigh in' on the subject of some losing and some gaining.

On our cruise, I lost a couple pounds and was very surprised since I am more prone to gaining.
One thing is obvious for me: I was a little quesy the entire cruise and very sick the first night. Because of the quesiness I never had a drop of alcohol the whole cruise and also enjoyed the fresh fruit more than anything.

Plus, as a mom of 2 young boys, sitting down is unheard of. I did not do any of that.

I'll admit it: I'm impatient. I'd always rather take the stairs than wait for an elevator. I only took the elevator when my kids begged to as a treat.

lastly, most mornings I did do a few laps around deck 4 - but no super workout.

Can you believe, with all that, I still had a great time and have another one booked?

We already lost it, but I gained 6, DH gained 8 and DD gained 3.

Before the cruise, I lost 25 and DH lost 35 doing South Beach. We did pretty good the first week, but that second week was where temptation got the best of us. :drinking1 :mickeybar

If anything, considering how quickly we lost what we gained, we're wondering if we should have "cheated" a bit more. :teeth:
