How much to tip a shuttle driver?

We are staying at the CCI, and one of the perks about it is the free shuttle. How much do you tip? Do you have to tip at all since it is just back and forth to the park and motel with no bags (I usually tip a shuttle driver to the airport based on how many bags we have)? Is it ok to tip only 1 way? If we go back and forth several times and tip $1 per person every time, then the "free" shuttle isn't really free. I don't want to be rude, but at the same time it is supposed to be a "free" shuttle. Maybe I am just being "Mr. Krabs"!:rotfl: (Well, maybe Mrs. Krabs!)

If it's an airport shuttle, I tip 20%. If it's a shuttle to/from the parks, I don't think I'd tip. Someone else might have a better idea though since I haven't taken a park shuttle in 10 years or so.

It depends. What are they doing for you which is above their job? Handling your bags? How much per bag is it worth? If they are simply driving a shuttle and offer you nothing above/beyond, I'm not seeing the tipping thing making sense.

I tip drivers to & from the airport/hotel/home, but I've never thought to tip a shuttle driver to the parks. I'll be interested to hear some other answers to see what the norm is. In any case my answer is I don't think you would need to tip the CCI shuttle driver.

I always tip to/from an airport, and I also tip hotel shuttle drivers for other trips -- such as if they were to take us to a restaurant for dinner, etc, that wasn't a scheduled route, I might tip them $2/3 (total, not per person). However, when a hotel shuttle driver is taking you on a scheduled route, like back and forth to Disneyland and it's twice a day, I wouldn't tip them every time.

If I had the same driver every day, I MIGHT tip the driver $5 at the end of the stay. I might also tip the driver $2 or so on an individual trip if they did something special.

Otherwise, no.

:thumbsup2 This.

If it's the same driver every day, we would tip at the end of our trip. If a driver did something that stood out one day, we would tip $3-5. Other than that, we don't tip to and from the parks.

This is a good question because I've stayed at the CCI numerous times. There is a basket with a sign that says, "Tips Appreciated" at the front of the shuttle bus. I never know what to do in these types of situations. I tend to tip $1 per person per ride.

Just ask yourself if they provided value above their job. If not, no tip, if yes, then tip in accordance with the value. I have a hard time understanding why EVERY job under the sun needs a tip to be done well.

$1 or $2 per group should be fine. These people don't make much and I'm sure they greatly appreciate anything. Or nothing at all, it's up to you : )
I have a question though. I'm probably going to reserve the Lansky where they pick us up at the airport. The service says tip included bit I always feel weird not tipping. It's about $155 round trip. Do we tip? Has anyone else used a similar service?
Thanks!

I usually look at the amount of the tip that is included. For example if the tip is 18% and I tip 20%, then I will make up the difference. This is easy to do at a restaurant as I just leave it on the table. If it is an airport type shuttle, then I will tip $3 per bag above the tip included, which is based upon the distance and # of people. I hope that makes sense.

Whoever - I don't know how to double quote, but, you have a great suggestion as far as knowing when to tip or not. Thanks!
