We are on the dining plan for our upcoming trip in June. Of course, this time we need to budget for tips. :(

How much should we budget for 6 TS meals? Is it based on what you actually order?

We have 2 adults and 2 children in our party.

I used the menus section at allearsnet dot com. It lists the menu items and prices and prices of the buffets. I figured what we would most likely order and budgeted the tip accordingly.

Tips should be based on what you actually order, so plan on tipping 15%-20% of your total food bill.

We are gong to take cash for this, I don't trust putting it on the card.

I've read a couple different posts about the tips. here's my question--
now that the tip is not included in the dining plan, do they automatically add it on and you pay what they add, or are you able to tip what you want. I don't like being told what I HAVE to tip. I tip by the service. Now i realize most Disney service is surperb, but it bothers me that if they decide NOT to include it in the plan ( whether you are paying for it, or its offered for free), then they should be leaving it up to the guest to decide.:confused3

It is only added on for you if you are:

*Using the Disney Dining Experience Discount Card (DDE) - Regardless of party size.

OR

*A party of 6 or more

If you should happen to fall into one of those two groups, then you are free to comment to a manager on sub-par service to have the gratuity reduced or removed.

I agree, I don't like being told how much I have to tip either!!! There are seven of us going this year so they will automatically charge us 18% tip ... no doubt the servers would earn this, but I feel it should still be left up to us how much to tip ... really, a tip a "gift" for good service and that amount should be left up to the customers!!
