$ How much to bring...and other ?'s
Since I have not been to WDW since I was 16 yrs old, and DH has not been since he was 11-we are having some difficulty deciding how much money to bring.

When we vacation we generally like to bring half of our spending $ as cash and half in travelers checks. We try to avoid using the credit cards.

We will be staying at the CBR for 7 nights...just the two of us. Can you give me an idea of what my food budget should be? We do have one special anniversary dinner planned at the California Grille-but other than that we will be eating more moderately priced dinners. Also, we do not plan on eating "lunches"...rather having a bigger breakfast and maybe a snack during the day at the parks.

I have been thinking that $1000 for food/souvenirs would be about right. Since we have the FTP everything else is paid for.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'd check the menus to be sure but $1000 sounds like plenty to me.

in 1996 during our honeymoon, we were there for 7 nihts. We spent about $1000 on food and other souvies, non-essentials, etc. I have read that $130 per day per couple is a safe figure. It allows for a fast food breakfast, table service lunch and a sit down dinner. However, if you plan to do more "lunches" than "dinners" you might be able to whittle that number down to $100? If you are anything like us - we did mostly munchy stuff during the day and had one good "dinner-type" meal a day.

This isn't really a "tip", but you might also think of putting a portion of your vacation cash into your checking account and using your debit/credit card (if you have one) for the bigger meals. That way you don't have to worry about carrying around a lot of cash or travellers checks. I love the convenience of that card!

we're going for eight days for the first time--myself, my husband, and two small children

we're allotting $80 a day for food and souvies, but we'll be in the cabins and will have a full kitchen (plus we're driving and will take food/water bottles with us on the trip)

guess it all just depends on how lavish a meal you want, and how much/ex*****ve your take home goodies are

My partner and I typically stay 7-9 days on our annual trips. We bring anywhere from $1,750-2000 for the trip. This includes mostly sit down dinners of course, as well as a few nights at Pleasure Island.

It might sound excessive, but when I'm on vacation, I do like to splurge on nice dinners. Hope that helps!

I usually ball park $100 a day for food/spending. We typically buy a lot of soveniers. I am upping that figure for our upcoming trip since my kids are both teenagers and don't eat the children's meals anymore. We are not breakfast eaters so that cuts out a lot of cost. I also bring along soft drinks, water, and snacks for non-park time.

My DW and I usually budget $100 / day for dining, we usually have breakfast in the food court or resort restaraunt (Boatwrights) a counter lunch in one of the parks, and have a big sit down dinner at night (Cali Grill, Brown Derby) our average daily cost for the two of us is $80-$100. For souvenirs we budget for the entire trip usually $150 to $200. On a side note if we don't spend all of our dining budget we add that to the souvenir budget.

My DH and I leave in about 7 days and we've planned on taking the exact same amount as yall. We're taking $1000 for food and souvenirs. I'm really excited. We've got some moderate meals planned and one more expensive once at Teppanyaki in Japan. ( My DH is obsessed with Japanese culture...

that figure sounds about right for 2 people if you do not plan on doing any big events.

Like the Backyard BBQ, the HOOP DEE DO and some of the character meals get a little on the expensive side,

when we went last time, my son was only 2 and he was free for everything... man where those the days, I am finding we are about going to have to double what we took last time we went LOL. Course my DS wants to do every character meal LOL, not going to happen, LOL.

Just remember when looking at souvenirs.... look at it this way, yeah its pretty on the shelf, but when I get it home, will it end up in a garage sale in a year... if I can answer yes or probably to that question, then I dont need it LOL
