How much time?

Sorry if this has been asked before...we are staying at the WL in September. The last time we were at the WL, we had our car. This year we're flying, so we've decided to rely on Disney transportation. I've used Disney transport while staying at other resorts, but not the WL. I'm wondering how much time it will take to get from the WL to AK. We have breakfast ADRs at Tusker House at 8:05 a.m. one day and I'm trying to figure out how much time to allocate for getting there. Thanks for your help.:goodvibes

I havent done it, but I have read a lot about Disney transportation (so decided to rent a car!!). Most say that the buses stop at various resorts and are not direct. Sometimes you have to switch buses at DTD and others bring you to the TTC to switch. I have read that you should plan an hour for most destinations not in the MK area.

If $$ is not too much of a factor for you and depending on your party size, you can get great deals with Dollar car rentals at the airport using the promo code KISSE.

I got a minivan for $199/week for this upcoming Thankgiving week. A friend got a 4 door sedan for $110/week. Last time I rented a car, I used about 1/2 tank of gas the entire week (now would be about $40).

THis is NOT true. The only time you have to switch buses is when going from Resort to resort. And bus sharing occurs only with sister resorts, BC/YC, POR and POFQ and the All Stars (i think).

To the OP: I would consider a cab. Early morning buses can be a pain and if if comes down to an extra 45 minutes of sleep or $15-$20, sleep wins, hands down.

If your down at the bus stop an hour before, you should be fine. Yes; sometimes buses are off or really packed first thing in the AM, but your reservations, if I'm right, are before AK opens. So you should not have a big crowd going to AK at that time. Plus, it's not like they will not let you in if you are late, we have been late a few times and they have always got us in within 15-30 minutes. As for a rental car, everyone has their opinion, we drive down 2 or 3 times a year and I think we have only took our car once to a park in the past 3 years. For us it's just easier to not deal with a hot car, traffic, parking and of course drivers not sure where their going:scared1: WDW transportation is always complained about but if you actually stop and think how many people they are constantly moving back and forth it's really amazing. Have a magical time:wizard:

You might try posting this on the transportation board. There are some real Disney transportation experts there!
