How much time will we spend at Seaworld?

Going with my MIL and DD4 so don't plan on going on any of the rides. The thing is that they close at 6pm the day we are going and we won't be arriving until late morning. Debating if I want to do dinner with Shamu or dinner at Sharks. Thinking that taking an hour or more out of our day at a sit down will be too much. Would we be better off having a quick CS meal? Will 6-7 hours be long enough to see almost everything anyway?

6-7 hours will be pushing it. Check out SeaWorld's website and look at the schedule of the shows for the day you are planning to visit. Plan your day around the show times. You should arrive about 15 minutes prior to showtime (at least 30 minutes for Shamu).

You won't be able to see everything in 6-7 hours, but if you plan ahead, you should be able to catch the highlights.

Even if you aren't doing rides, there is so much to look at. You will have a busy day if you want to do it all in 7 hours..

We spent 9 full hours at SeaWorld. We saw all of the shows except for "Elmo" and "Sealions Tonight". We ate two counter-service meals - we liked "Mama's Kitchen". We were disappointed with "Mango Joes" - we got there too late for Fijitas and the other food was disappointing. There is a BBQ place that smelled amazing but we didn't try it.

In making your meal decision:

Dinner w/Shamu is an experience all about being up close to the whales (and the earlier in advance you book, the better seats you get). The place is a crescent-shaped outdoor (covered) restaurant that fits around the edge of a large pool where the whale swims -- first row seats are right along the edge of the pool and you can be as many as three tables back (the back row around the crescent). You do not go to this place for the food -- we've been twice, it is an all-you-can eat buffet, and food is decent but nothing special. Personally, I would only book this if I were doing it far enough in advance to know I'd be getting a first-row table because we go for the whale experience. Do it if you love whales, but not for the food.

Sharks Underwater Grill is a spectacular restaurant. the food is very good -- what you would expect from a high quality seafood restaurant. The restaurant is dark/elegant, and tables are set up auditorium style (further back you go, the higher up you are) in front of a huge, beautiful shark tank. If you want a terrific meal in a stunning setting (and like sharks!), go for this one.
