How much time will AK and MGM require?

From what I've read on this board...MGM is a half day park. But what about Animal Kingdom? We will have a 4 yr old and 11 month old with us. Could we take a break in the middle of the day and do AK in the morning and MGM in the late afternoon/early evening? We will be there for 5 full days and have 4 day park hopper plus tickets (with the plus we will go to typhoon or blizzard). Thanks in advance for any info/suggestions!::MinnieMo

It can be done but you would be missing out on so much. I would spend a day at each park. It's a shame so many people just rush through Animal Kingdom. or only go to Disney-MGM for the Aerosmith Coaster and Tower of Terror.

Animal Kingdom is a half day park for a lot of people. But if you really want to experience it you will pretty much need a whole day.
The Studios are at least a full day park. There are many shows to see along with the rides and attractions. Over the last few years the Studios has become our favorite park and we spend a lot of time there. This is one reason why we prefer to stay at the Epcot resorts.

Hi melissap,

With a 4YO and an 11MO, I'd suggest one park per day, with a mid-day break for naps. I don't think it'd be much fun to combine both parks into a single day with children younger than...oh, say 9.

An alternative would be a "highlights" tour of the AK on a Monday or Friday, a mid-day break, and a small sample of DS attractions in the late afternoon and early evening. Perhaps five or six attractions at each park, tops.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

we spend a full day (open to close) at animal kingdom and mgm has become a 2 day park for us...i travel with my wife and two kids (12 and 14 years old)...with young kids, i think that you could probably get away with one day in each park...
have fun!!!!

We spent half a day each at AK and MGM. BUT, we didn't do them both the same day. Instead, on the AK day we went to MK that night. And the MGM day we rested at our resort (swam in the pool) the rest of the day. Oh and our kids were 3.5 and 17 months old for that trip. :)

We're planning on spending the day in AK, then heading over to MK that evening for dinner and MVMCP. I think that should be enough time in AK... or at least I hope so!

We usually go to MGM for a couple of days. You can't do everything there without missing a lot in 1/2 a day. We can do Animal in 3/4 a day by missing out on the shows...

hi i think you should spend at least one full day at least at each park as they are amazing and the time flies before you know it. i would get the 5 day park hopper or 5 day park hopper plus as you can go round the parks on your 5th day and ride those exciting rides again its brilliant whatever you choose it will be a holiday you will never forget enjoy it while you can and do what you want its your holiday remember.
