How much time do you spend on a layout?

I like to get one done in an hour or two. I won't even attempt to do anything complicated like most of the ones I see in the gallery at twopeasinabucket.com So I guess I am a simple scrapper. What about you?

Well, technically I spend an entire day on it. I don't get alot of time to actually do it so first I'll decide what pictures I'm going to use, then I'll get an idea in my head of what I want it to look like. Throughout the day I will gather the paper, maybe print what I need to print on the computer, later on I'll look through my embellishments. Then when my DS3 finally goes to bed I'll start cutting things out and deciding what works, pasting, cropping, etc. I'm still pretty new at this and I'm a serious perfectionist/control freak so that can take me up to 3 hours. I usually don't complete more than 1 page per day, 2 if it's a two page layout.

It would probably go faster if I could leave my supplies out.

I could spend anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. I don't usually go above that.

I'm a newbie, so my pages are pretty basic. Still, a two page layout takes me about 2 hours from start to finish.

It depends on the layout and whether I have to creat embelishments or anything else for the pictures. If I have everything I need from a swap or I had created it previously when planning my book out then it only takes me a few minutes to move things around the page and glue them down. If I have to create things as part of the layout it will take me longer. If I decide I want a connected title then i have to sit down and create it.

Generally what I do is look at the pictures I have for a layout and any titles or embelishments that go with it. If I need something else for the layout or I want to do computer journalling I will jot down a note with what I need. Then i keep everything on that layout together and move on to my next page. After I have finished what I want to do I will take my list of things to get done to the computer room. (If I just need a mat i will make it immeadiately but the main things I need are pockets, titles, or little embellishment swirls that I cut on my craftrobo).

Once I have finished all the things I needed to make I pull the pages back out and quickly put them together.

Some pages take a few minutes and others take a couple of days depending on what I am making. I don't have to complete a layout before I move onto another though.

For someone who's become addicted to swapping I rarely go to the trouble to make similar embelishments for my own pages I'm trying to do my "Family 2007" book almost entirely from the month swap, but if the embelishments don't go with a set of pictures I'll do the page from scratch. It took me about 2 1/2 hours yesterday to do 2 double-page spreads - one I used the swap stuff and it was really quick, the other took longer. I've only recently got the courage to work with very patterned paper (LOVE Basic Grey ) and I'm still a bit wary of embellishing. I've got a chatterbox page kit set which will help - if I open it up of course

This is a very good question. It is so interesting to see how everyone else tackles a project.

I am a rearranger. I get my stuff out and rearrange it over and over before adhering it to the layout. I feel very fortunate to have a studio (makes me feel creative and artsy to call my scrap area a "studio") where I can leave things out for a while. I may have a few layouts going at once. (It wasn't always like this so I fully appreciate my special space.) New ideas for embellishments, placement, etc. come to me the more I think about and return to the layout(s). This can take me a couple of days to a couple of weeks. I leave it out and come back to it several times. Last night I finished one on our trip up Pike's Peak. While I was sticking everything down, an idea for a tag came to me. That finished off the layout just nice. I was very happy with the final product.

The time a layout takes me depends on the embellishment ideas that come to me. Waiting for that special paper, a tear animal, paper piecing, or sewn photo mat or embellishment can add more time. The Cricut sure makes it easy to crank out elements, though.

Being a rearranger, it's hard to add up the time I put into a layout. But I enjoy the process and the final product.

I do this a lot too, start in the morning then go back in drips and drabs to finish up. If I am sitting and not getting up, it could take me 15 min to an hour depending on the LO. I have been known to spend "days on a LO too!

Like others have said, it depends. I've done pages in 5 minutes before - just slap on a background paper and the pictures, a little journaling - done! Others I've spent an hour on. Depends on the story I am trying to tell with the layout.

I do digital scrapping, so it's a bit different. If I have ideas in my head prior to starting, I can get a page done in just a few minutes. If I change my mind on pics or elements, it can take awhile. I did the 2 page LO of the MK parade last night (pics in the digi scrap sticky thread) and it took an hour or so, I had to arrange all those photos and crop them with rounded edges, the first page took just a couple mins, while page 2 took awhile! Luckily I don't have any extra time for getting my supplies out tho!!

It really varies but I would say I tend to spend a LOT of time per page. Sometimes I can get one done in an hour -- but that is rare. I do collage-style pages and sometimes, I could really shoot myself for doing that! LOL I'm also process-oriented rather than goal oriented, so I consider the time spent as the reason I do the hobby.

For example, last weekwhile working on my Disney album, I spent about 15hours on one page for the Tower of Terror. I redid it three times admittedly, but I will keep doing that until I get that feeling that the page is DONE. But that is for a page that is really important to me bec I love that ride. The page on the MGM parade took an hour from start to finish (including printing out the photos and so on).

Usually between 5 minutes and maybe 45 minutes to do the actual page. It really depends on if I have planned it. I usually only have a few minutes to spare at a time. So while I'm waiting to pick up the kids at school I'll sort pics. Then I'll grab my sketchbooks that night and find a layout I like. A different day I'll gather papers and embellishments. I kit everything and take it to Lisa's crops. I never get pages done at home.
Speaking of Lisa, I guess I better get moving for our crop this weekend. I need to refill my bag.

I'm with you Camicar, I'm rarely under an hour per page! I tend to fiddle around a lot and alter most of my stuff by inking, painting etc. Even layouts that look simple can take me hours because I'll have altered each item individually -and that's after I've adjusted and printed my pictures!

I think an hour is a good average for me, and I don't do anything terribly elaborate. Some pages are much quicker but even if it's simple I'm a big rearranger too.

I don't think I would want to know the amount of time spent on my layouts. The amount of time and energy I use to think about my layouts, ideas and pictures takes me forever. If I get a good idea together I usually don't have everything I want for the layout. Then the shopping comes into play. I spend just as much time shopping if not more than the actual scrapbooking. I really don't know what I enjoy more, I love having that great idea then finding all the pieces to put it together.

Our last trip to WDW was Sept, 2006 and I am still scrapping that trip. We are going back this Sept and hope I'm done to start the next. I should be scrapping now.

I've been scrapbooking about a year now and I wish I could say my pages take me an hour - for me it could take days! I like revisiting it and making changes. Who knows when I mature in my scrapping it may just take me a few hours????

I am a fast scrapper. I would say a two page LO takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
