How much time do you spend in your room at HHI?

We are making a cash reservation at HHI this summer for 4 nights/5 days. We are a family of 5, and at Disney, we are perfectly content shoving ourselves into deluxe hotel rooms and the GFV studios since we spend so little time in the room, and because we eat all of our meals outside of the room. For HHI, however, I do plan to prepare breakfast and most dinners in the room (lunch will probably be on the beach or at the pool), so I am thinking that it's likely we will actually be spending a little more time in the room, and am considering whether I should splurge and get a 2 bedroom instead?

We've done beach vacations forever, but we've always rented a house (and usually a much-bigger-than-our-own house), so a hotel at the beach is going to be a new experience, but if my kids are going to be swimming all day and never in the room, and if I can save the money and go with a smaller unit and still be just as happy as we are at Disney in cramped quarters, I'll just get the 1 bed instead.

The studios at HHI only sleep 4 so you would have to do a 1BR or 2BR for 5. Personally we don't spend a lot of time in our room. We are on the beach, by the pool, site seeing, etc. A 1BR might be plenty big for you with the sleeper sofa and chair in the living area.
