How much time before flight?

Hi,
I always have a hard time deciding what time to get to MCO for our flight out.
We are trying a 9:30 am flight (Northwest) .
I was thinking about having the car service pick us up at 6:45 a.m. or 7:00 a.m.
We will be at the Swan. I think it's a half hour to the airport from the Swan.
What time do you think we should schedule our trip to the airport?

The most important thing we need to know is what day of the week you're going. Saturdays are a nightmare at MCO in general, and I think the insanity starts around 7:30 in the morning since so many flts leave between 9:00-10:00.

I don't know about MCO specifically, but other airports are a disaster on Monday mornings, too, with the business travelers starting their weeks.

Any other day of the week, getting to the airport by 7:30 for a 9:30 flight should be ample time. In fact, you're likely to have time on your hands.

We'll be flying out of MCO on a Saturday evening. Delta's website says that our flight is in peak time and, if I get this right, it may be up to 2 hours just to get through checkin and security. Adding in the ½ drive and the boarding, we will need to leave at least 3 to 3½ hours early.

Our flight out is at 5:40 pm. Can anyone comment if my estimate times sound about right? Thanks.

Keep in mind that the car service could be late or even leave you high and dry. We scheduled a 10:30 pick up for a 12:55 flight. But the driver didn't show up until 10:50 - and then traffic (and the driver) were slow. We didn't get to the airport until 11:40! By the time we got tickets (we were eticketed, but I still needed to get the assigned boarding passes), luggage checked, through security and grabbed a bite (no food on the plane) we reached the gate with them already boarding. We only managed to get food because we got the best airport agent in the world when we got out of our car who was great with the baggage and ushered me to the front of the eticket line.

We flew out of MCO, on Sat. eve. at 8:20 PM.

Our car picked us up at 5:45, on the dot. We were at the airport, checked in, thru security, and sitting at our gate, at 6:40. A LONG WAIT to board.

I was amazed, how fast things went, and a bit sad, that we could have stayed at Disney a bit longer. But OTOH, I probably would plan that much time again. You never know.
