Hello,

We are leaving in 10 days (yeah!) and I bought two cans of the spray on sunscreen. Do you think this is enough for a family of 4 for a weeks stay? I just want to make sure I bring enough so I don't have to buy it there (as I fear it costs a lot more there).

Thanks! :)

I would bring much more sunscreen. I like sunscreen with titanium or zinc dioxide. They provide a physical block to the sun, so they start working as soon as you put them on your skin. Thinking about how active you'll be and how hot and humid it is at this time of year, you will definitely need more sunscreen.

I'd pick up another can, but even if you don't the Disney prices aren't that much worse than regular store prices. It's not like they sell it for $40 a can! :lmao: It's very affordable at Disney.

We are a family of 5, 17 months, 12yrs, 16yrs and 2 not small adults. When it is shorts/bathing suit weather we use almost a can of spray on sunscreen per day. I got the 2 packs/8 oz each (with extra stick sunscreen thrown in) at Costco for our trip in 6 days. I bought 4 of them, so 64oz for a 10 day trip. If your kids are young/small, I would think you would still go through between 3 and 4 cans for the week. Enjoy your trip, and hope for good weather for us all.

Im a scottish gal so not really used to the sun. Been in orlando for the last two weeks and only used one of those factor 25 sunsticks, no burns! i guess it will be different with kids but i would say that would be enough =)

The guidelines are:

1ounce per person (think shot glass) per application - 1/2 goes to the face, apply every 2-3 hours depending on your needs. Approximately 3ounces per person per day. A family of 4 would be 12ounces a day. 10 day vacation 120ounces. It is better to overbuy then underbuy.

DH and I went for a week and used 3 cans of spray sunscreen. I'd get more. I'd pack at least one can per person -- put one in each person's suitcase and maybe an extra one in Mom's, and like someone else said, if you run out, you can buy it at Disney World if you have to. Have a great burn-free vacation. :goodvibes

Just a FYI - please don't use the spray sunscreen near any living foliage! The sunscreen will block the plant's ability to absorb sunlight, killing the plant.

We usually go through 4 or 5 bottles of spray plus one tube of lotion (for faces) for a family of 3. More if we spend more time at the pools/water parks. Last I checked, a can of spray sunscreen at Disney was $13ish.

Nothing ruins a vacation quicker than a sunburn. As a PP stated its 1 oz per person per application. Also, don't think just because you are wearing a t-shirt that you can't burn through it. It happened to my dad. He was gardening and got a sunburn through his t-shirt (they make them so thin). I'd apply the first time in the room before putting on any shirts just to be on the safe side, probably won't need to reapply under clothes. I wonder if that why they came out with SPF t-shirts.

I never had problems with my arms, legs, etc. burning. It was always my face. So I would make sure I had some kind of sunscreen I could rub on my face. There's nothing worse than being in DW with blisters on your forehead!!:headache:
