how much spending money ???

we are going to WDW in nov for 1 week ( 2nd weeek is all inclusive) how much spending money do you advise for two adults and kids age 6 & 3 yrs, we are staying at la quinta inn lakeside and have a car as part of the package. we will also be sharing some costs with 2 other adults but i want to pay for all the meals for the group as well as treats for the kids ( i was thinking of taking in the region of £1,000

That is such an individual thing. We stayed at La Quinta Inn Lakeside & because of the in room fridge, out spends decreased as we could have cereal or sandwiches rather than eating out. If you eat out it depends upon where you are eating, bearing in mind that b/fast at CP for example is alot more than at the local Ponderosa. If you have definite ideas about where you want to eat, you can get a rough calculation of costs from these boards & Deb's site. Don't forget to factor in theme park parking fees too. I'd suggest a daily limit for the children otherwise you will come home armed with all sorts of stuff that will go in a cupboard never to see the light of day! At the end of the day, ensure that you have enough either with you (or available on your flexible friend) so that you can enjoy your holiday rather than spend it counting the pennies!

Sorry if this appears negative but advising on how much money to take is difficult.
Guess it depends on how much shopping you do to a degree and whether you are taking a credit card etc, have you already purchased your Theme Park tickets?

Everyone has different thoughts on how much you need, at the end of the day I would suggest you take a few hundred pounds more than you think you will need - you can always bring it back and save till next time.

I agree it depends on if you are to purchase tickets there,food, if you are to buy clothes,souveniers etc..
It just depends on how much you want to spend, and what you want to buy....etc..

I would take a little more than what you work out, you can always change them once home or keep them for when you re-visit which is always a good way of thinking

Not a dumb question at all.

To help me work out my budget. I do like to know where I am going to dine so I can work out the cost (roughly). I always ensure I have meals and transfers covered and then take extra for spends

Ialway's pre-buy all my tickets, so I don;t have to worry about that while I am there.

To give you an idea we first went, DH 3, children and me in 1992. As well as cost of passes, we spent £1,000 on eating, petrol, treats etc. Although you don't have to go mad, I think it's a shame to count every penny there so be prepared to spend a bit more.

Unless you're on a strict budget, you will probably end up spending far more than you imagine you will. By planning roughly where you will eat each day, you can get an idea of what you will spend on meals, but it's all the little things which can quickly add up - ice-creams, ride photos, souvenirs, etc.

Don't get caught in the 'pin' trap! It's easy to start looking at all the souvenir pins and before you know it, you're buying hundreds of the things. I did that one year and scared myself when I got home and added up the cost of them all. Now I don't even look at them.

Will you want to do any shopping? It's also very easy to be tempted by all the bargains on clothes and trainers, especially when you've got kids.

It isnt a dumb question at all.
But it's hard to say as I don't know what you plan to buy/spend/have you bought park tickets, etc...
We take around 1,500/2,000 for 2weeks (2adults and 1 4year old), but also have the handy CC there for emergencies!! (which usually is in the ART OF DISNEY for some reason )

I would do a rough guide to what you will eat and where, what extra's like drinks etc...what you think you will need, you can always go to wal-mart and buy can's of pop, bread and sandwich fillers if you have a fridge on hand, and a cool bag for going around disney with I saw loads of people doing that, and we are to do this this time around.

But I agree with Deb it's the extra's like pin's, clothes, toys for the kids, drinks, ice creams etc, what mount up!

But I always say take a little extra, just in case you see something you really want, it's good having too much than not enough, you can always bring the extra cash home, and exchange or keep for a further holiday

I don't think it is allowed to take food into the theme parks, though it is ok at the water parks. However, if you're discreet, you can probably get away with a light snack. The trouble is, keeping it cool in the heat. I guess you could use those tiny ice packs used in children's lunch boxes. BTW, the £1,000 I quoted back in 1992 was for 5 of us for 2 weeks. Do take a cc though for contingencies.

I meant drinks, not food lol for going round disney, I meant sandwiches for in the hotel, or for having snacks around the pool etc,I should of said that in more detail sorry. (totally not over easter, too much chocolate)!

Taking a cool bag with a few cans of pop in either to leave in the boot of the car, or to take around, one lady had one on wheels, wheeling it around disney, it looked ideal. It save's the expense of buying drinks around disney, or you could make use of the water fountains...

As long as you're not lugging in a huge cool box, you'll be OK. We tend to take a couple of cartons of juice or water, and snacks such as bananas, raisins etc.
