Its not my £8k:thumbsup2

Hey Wayne!

Was worried there for a moment!

;)

August was most expensive trip we ever did. 25 nights, Biz class flights, OKW with free DDP, 7 night Disney cruise, car with insurance, that was almost £6k + spend but all we spent was tips, everything was included.

funny Wayne - as you've started to spend more, i've moved in the other direction again..
or at least have tried to...although i still won't go back to economy class..

but we used to do WDW on the super cheap....really really inexpensive...staying offsite at the cheapo suite hotels, cooking everything, flying economy (and looking for the best economy deals out there)..

then over time we spent more and more and more and more and more (ultimately doing the GF RPC concierge for 3 weeks at a time  i don't even want to think about how much money we were burning.....not to mention the cruises in the walt disney suite)..

now i'm moving back in the other direction...
i went to sleep one night and apparently woke up as scrooge.....
my last trip was at the all star music....
the trip in sept that i had to cancel would have been at the pop...

i just can't justify my spending the kind of money i spent in the past...
i don't regret having spent it....we had magical, dreamy holidays...
but i just can't justify it anymore...
i wonder if it's old age.......not sure what it is...
i was even considering flying economy for my trip in june, but i thought better of that......

anyway...it's amusing that we seem to have traded places...

Hi,
We took £1000 worth of dollars for myself and my daughter for 2 weeks, we are not big shoppers so didn't do any of the shopping outlets.
Next October we have DDP so I'm taking £500 worth of dollars for myself and my daughter for 12 days, we have all our tickets, transfers etc.
I'm thinking of adding maybe an extra £150 for shopping at an outlet now my daughter is a bit older because she likes shopping and has been saving really hard so she can go shopping! I'll also try and have an extra £200 ish on a credit card just in case but that really depends on how well I can save!
Hope this helps :goodvibes

We always take £100 per day (whatever that equates too at the time!!). Since there was such a great rate last summer (2008) we brought home lots. I have put that by and will now need very little for next year with the DDP. I always do clothes shopping separate though. I think you can spend as much or as little as you have available. It's just like the weekly grocery shop . . . we used to be able to do it fr £50 but now that we earn more we buy more . . . I think it is all relative.

I have gone the other way. When I earned more I invested more, spent less. Now our income is probably lowest it has ever been I am looking at biz class flights and staying onsite deluxe. Easter will be a budget trip as it was unplanned. Even if money was unlimited I still wouldn't go shopping.:goodvibes

This year, there were three of us for 14 nights. We stayed onsite so almost all of our food was in Disney.

We had 5 character meals as well as many very nice restaurants (not on the dining plan), and had a massive shopping day too.

I took $2000 with me and came home with a small amount of that. I have no credit card so this was all I took.

So even though we ate out every day (a lot of the time twice a day) and brought a lot of stuff back home, and tipped very well (always over 20% as the service was fantastic everywhere we went) we spent less that £1600 for three of us. And silly as it may seem to me now, the kids never shared a meal, they both had their own. I'll be doing that differently next time, they never finished! lol

We just got back today! :sad2: and I figure that we spend around $3,500 between the 4 of us. We had the DDP, so food wise we only had the 20% tip and a couple of meals OOP. We also paid for all of our tickets before we left.

When me and Matt went in May 2008 we took $6000 thanks to the lovely $2 to a £1! and we spent it all lol had a lovely shopping spree and had no money worrys loved it trying to save as much as we can for when we go back in May 2010. x

Emma, I managed on $700 for two weeks for me and my DD however we did not eat at any TS apart from one character meal and we did hardly any shopping at all. It is not for everyone to do it the way we did it though.

Benidorm? Are you on the right forum?:confused3

For two weeks half board; how much spending money?

How cheap are things in Benidorm? Meals for two? Just trying to create a discussion for those lucky ones amongst us who are going very soon

Thanks

Dan

We budget £25 per person per day for food, drinks and local transportation and never spend that much - nearer £20/day. We have something small for lunch (slice of pizza?), drink water or share a soda back at the hotel and then eat at somewhere like TGIs, Olive Garden, Outback etc. most nights for dinner. So for two people for two weeks, we'd budget £700.

Hi,
I personally think that you will spend to your means!! When we went this year money was tight so we learnt that packed lunches saved us a fortune - and gave us a nice respite from fast food !! We were staying in a villa so each night I cooked something simple and on a few occasions dh did a bbq.
We only actually did 2 character meals and 4 cs meals of course bought snacks !! The exchange rate was really poor so our £2000 for the 6 of us only got us $200 a day for us all but we actually managed to bring home around $120 and the kids all got everything they asked for !!
I guess it depends how much eating out everyday means to you - for us it was easier and a lot more relaxing to have a simple meal in the oven while we messed about in the pool!!
I dont feel that we particularly scrimped through our holidays and we still had to buy an extra suitcase for all our goodies but we did save big money on food this time !! if im honest id do the same again as it really worked for us :woohoo:

In August, we (Me, DH, 2*DS 12&15) took £1500 - we had all our tickets, car hire, free DDP. We are not a shopping family, although with two boys The Converse store is a must. We tipped, bought what ever we wanted for us and gifts for others and came home with about £200.

DBF and I spent around £800 each last time, which seems like quite a lot consdering we were on the DDP! It was good feeling able to buy whatever we wanted though.
