we usually do the meal plan, so everything is paid for........in the past I usually have spent about $200 on souveniers etc.........
so how much do you bring for spending money, not counting food

I try forr $100 a day that does not include my DS spending he saves all year cashing in bottles and we give him total saved/total days= what he can spend a day. last year it came to $25 a day. not bad for an 7 yr old IMHO!:lmao:

We don't bring much, we go often enough that it's not really a souvenier worthy destination anymore! :lmao:

When we did, we usually set aside $50 per person for souvenier's per trip. We really don't buy a lot of stuff when we travel.

We bring $100 per day not counting money for food.

I brought $800.00 for 8 days. We had the meal plan so we didn't need money for food. However, this covered the cost of a towncar to and from the airport, groceries for the week (about 100.00), taxis when we didn't want to take Disney transportation, tips for dinners and the small amount of gifts and keepsakes.

Alot! We usually spend about $1000.

wow,what do you buy?? LOL
I don't buy much because we only do carry on luggage, so I bring an extra personal bag for everyone and what fits is it!! LOL
I don't remember how much I brought last trip, but I remember we only spent 200.......I room charged everything, so thats the only reason I can remember

Last trip I think we spent about 800 or so. But it was 10 days and our first trip as a family so we bought pins and lanyards and paid our tips on the dining plan and let the kids get things for themselves and friends.
This trip is one week, and we aren't even going to bother buying park hoppers. The kids will probably have 100 or so of their own money each. I would like to get a Christmas ornament and a thank you gift for the neighbour girl who is feeding the cat.

We will spend much less this time.

Ooh, I don't even want to say how much we bring for spending money. Between the (soon to be) 6 of us, for 10 days, we bring around $1500.00. We do the dining plan, so this is for DTD, stuff for the kids, the resort gift shop, and some food that we usually buy - breakfast stuff, and milk for the toddler - it adds up quick.

But, I also get a mask in Italy every trip, and we get pearls every year, too.

We usually spend about $350 - $400/day for everything. That includes hotel, tickets, food, travel and spending money. Since we never do the DDP our spending is over $1K back to the room. We charge the food too.

THis last trip in Dec we brought carry ons for the 3 of us and 1 big checked suitcase just to bring stuff home in. DD got 4 DS games, 2 Fairy Dolls, several art drawing kits, 2 DVD's, 2 dolls that flip ( Snow White/Wicked Queen, Belle/Sleeping Beauty)and 5 Disney mini t-shirts that fit her stuff animals.

We all buy lots of clothes: t-shirts, sweatshirts, ties for DH, baseball caps. We got kitchen stuff, scrapbook stuff, picture frames, throws, christmas ornaments, dog shirts. We also bought t-shirts for DD's 3 best friends and our 5 nieces and nephews. It all adds up pretty quickly. Disney is the one time when DH is not "a tightwad" he loves the shopping as much as me!

Are we married to the same guy! :lmao:
I don't know how I end up not spending a lot, probably the carry on thing, but I like that idea of bringing a checked bag for take home stuff :thumbsup2
that would be cheaper than mailing a box home even with the checked bag fee:)

We're going 7 nights, only 5 days in the parks though...I plan on taking $1200 cash with me, room, dining is all paid for...just need tax, tips and anything extra that's not on our dining we might need...the rest is for clothes and cool stuff! I planned on buying a nice Disney carry on bag for the flight home since we're only going down with two...me, DH and DD4...I check two bags so we have tons of room to bring goodies home. I won't buy many toys for her though, mosty cool Disney clothes etc...

Hi,

for me it takes 200$... even I don't buy much but for selected ones only..
What could be the best gift you bought for your near ones at home...?

cheers,
Clarve..

for 8nights/9 days I have $1200-$1500 tucked away to spend. Last year we spent about $900 of that on stuff we bought, oop meals, drinks, and tips

Last time we spent around $600 for 8 days. I thought that we were taking too much - HA! This included souveners, tips and very few extra snacks (we were on the regular dining plan so that was taken care of). I shouldn't be, but I was quite surprised at how much we spent so fast! Each of my 2 kids got a $20~ toy, each got 1 small ($15~) stuffed animal, all four of us got one t-shirt each ($20-$30). I did pick-a-pearl for my bday, with a necklace ($80).... and a few more little souvies for friends (mostly candy). It all adds up so quickly!

That said - I plan on doing the same thing for spending money as I did last year.... I save up any extra money that comes in outside the planned budget. Garage sale, birthdays, work bonus, consignment shop sales, craigslist sales, etc. Any little way I can find to make money, I do it. I usually do not push consigment & craigslist so much during the year, but when it's time for Disney - DH says it's a big motivator for me!!! LoL...

I would love to be able to take $1000-$1500 with me this time, how fun to not have to worry so much about "budget" - I never do that regularly (always pinching pennies), so we shall see!
