I'm hiring a limo van to the airport from my home(about 45 min ride)....how much should I tip? They are charging me $45(just in case that info is helpful). Thanks for the help!
About $5.00 is good But if your driver helps with all of the bags and you like him about $7.00 is good. And $10.00 you really like him!! Have a good Time.....
Rabbit..
I tipped him $15!! But he really went over and beyond; at least that what I thought.
Hey, I look at it this way. I'll definately be using Fl Tours again next year and who knows....maybe I'll get the same driver. And also I hear that not everyone even tips. So maybe I helped make up for a bad day.
How things change!
At one time the average was 10 - 15% (and that was only if he/she went out of their way to provide a good service).
Tipping is not an arbitrary "pay bonus" for the driver ....its for services above and beyond his normal duties.
JMHO.
FL Tours adds in the tip (20% I believe) when you get a limo service from them..... don't they? So you mean you tipped $15 more than the mandatory tip?
I didn't say it was INCLUDED. But it very clearly says on the website when you reserve the limo (which I have done) that they will add 20% tip.
And I quote (copy/paste):
Total Cost: $190.00
**The above price quote is based on your transfer detail, vehicle type and number of passengers. If your transfer detail does not match the information you submit on this page, your final price may be different.
Please Note: Due to the high cost of maintaining stretch limos we wish to remind our guest a 20% drivers gratuity be added in the above all limo rates.
Oh I'm sorry... since she said limo van that's why I asked about the tipping thing because I assumed YOU went by limo or limo (luxury) van also. That's what I get for assuming. LOL
I think I'll have to ask Andy how we handle the mandatory 20% tip (plus any if we decide more is deserved)- I mean what if we pay it to the first driver and end up with someone ELSE picking us up for the return to airport trip??? I'm not sure how that works.
I've always tipped the driver 20% myself. For the towncar company drivers I've tipped per segment as I'm never sure if I'll get the same driver. For example: a roudtrip from MCO to WDW resort may run $100 ..... I'd tip the first driver $10 to $15 .... then the return driver $10 probably. I like the tip the first driver more usually. Of course the $100 amount here is just for example purposes.
I may not be correct in my tipping, but try my best.
