Question from a 13 year old. This was on the teen board for a while but I only got one reply so I thought I'd ask on this board! I was wondering how much money you usually give your kids to bring on vacation to WDW? Mom and Dad are telling us to save up but I wanna know how much I should save before the trip. Last year my 3 brothers and I got about $150 each for Christmas from parents and relatives. I was surprised at how quickly it went! But I guess that's how it goes at Disney. Magic comes with a price!

Depends on what you're buying.

Are mom & dad paying for all the meals and snacks and you just need souveneirs? Then $150 should be more than enough. There isn't much to *pay* for outside of food, snacks, and *stuff* to take home. But, the *stuff* to take home is just stuff....sure, a tee shirt is nice or you might want a few pins, but nothing terribly important.

If you're buying your own snacks, I'd count in $10 per day or so. You can get by on less, but at 13 I snacked all day (popcorn here, mickey bar there).

If you need food, snacks, and souveniers, go for $20-$25 a day. Counter service is cheap - like $7 for a burger meal - and the rest for snacks.

If your money is just for buying souvenirs and not snacks, drinks, etc then it would just depend on how much stuff you like to buy. :) I'm a shopper myself so the more I can save to spend the happier I am. If you buy big ticket items like a sweatshirt for $40+ then it'll go fast, I tend to buy a bunch of little stuff like notepads, etc.

Have fun, sorry I'm not much help!

I think you should listen to your mother and if she says to bring say , $200 than you should bring that much. Your parents are the ones that are paying for and planning the trip for the most part, so they would be the best ones to determine what you will be expected to pay for.If, however they are paying for EVERYTHING except your "fun" money than you need to budget. If you have $200 to bring, than you should not buy something that cost $75 the very first day, or worse yet, at the airport before you even get there! You will need to decide each time you buy something, if it is really something that you will like to have, or if it is just an impulse buy. And before you actually buy something, check a few things. If it is a piece of clothing, make sure it will fit you in a few months. Add up how much $$ you will have left over after you buy something before you actually buy it, and don't forget to add in the tax.My 9 year old has exactly $187.65 saved up ( she counts it daily) and we are leaving next week. She loves to save money, but hates to part with it! Have a great trip! :cool1:

I am taking all the money I "can part with" and I am quite sure I will come home with extra. That way if there is something that I fall in love with or something I see is a little more expensive, I have the money for it. But if I dont come home with any (or very little) I know that I will not have any money to do other things once I get back.

My 11 yo DD is just like this LOL I'm kinda glad though! :)

:flower: My DS usually has about $100 to $140 spending money of his own when we go to WDW. He saves this money on his own from aluminum cans, B-day, X-mas, etc. When we get to WDW He tends to portion it out daily-usually $20.00 per day. :earsboy:
