How much shopping do you do?

We do alot of shopping fl mall , belts any were we see some shops we go and have a look even in to wal-mart most days it's a bit sad but we like to see all the differant things out there .

Our original trips to Orlando featured very little shopping apart from the obligatory park shops for souvenirs. I remember going to Florida Mall for a day on our very first trip and being totally unimpressed - we couldn't find any of the amazing bargains we'd been led to expect. I think maybe that put us off the whole Orlando-shopping idea for a while, and we do more now than we used to.

Now that we spend only a part of our trips in Orlando, we save most of the shopping element to other parts of Florida we visit, and don't do much in Orlando itself. Walmart is an absolute essential, mainly for DH's fishing tackle, but also for odd items for the kitchen and craft-making bits ;) However, I have a feeling the BassPro shop will also feature very regularly now that DH has discovered it  Apart from that, it tends to be a half day here or there in a mall to bag up on the surfy gear DDs both love.

We tend to only have two shopping days out of 14 where shopping is the major focus of the day but we might also stop off a couple of afternoons when we have finished at the parks.
We also make regular forays to Walmart and Publix for supplies but this is on the way back to the villa anyway.

Given we only ever spend a week in Orlando, the other week and a half or two weeks are down at a beach, we tend to do our "main" shopping away from Orlando. With only a week to do the parks we want to we don't want to spend too much time shopping; we have a little look around the Disney/Universal shops in the parks, always have a little trip to DTD Disney Store :earsgirl: and then WalMart's just to see if they've got anything different in Orlando than down south.

I guess all in if you added it up it would amount to a full day, but mostly it's the odd afternoon for an hour or so.

 Hi Simon,

Shopping? Me? NEVER! :rolleyes1 Seriously, I am a shopaholic! We always buy stuff at the parks and we always do at least 1 morning and 1 evening at Premium Outlets, a couple of days at DTD :) 1 day at Mall at Millenia, half day at Festival Bay and an evening at Pointe :teeth:

This year though i intend to do my Christmas shopping there as well so i'll probably have some axtra shopping time ;) Even after all these years of holidaying in Florida, we have still not been to Florida Mall! We'll have to make this a priority in the future. :goodvibes

Hope this helps Simon.

I must say also when I popped into Walgreens for some paracetamol I was completely bemused by the HUGE range of character plasters available! I counted 15 different sorts, but there were some gaps.....

Really thought about buying some, now wish I had. :sad2:

I have to say that I am shocked and disappointed at the replies to this thread.
Shopping. I mean, SHOPPING!!!!!

Good lord, is nothing considered sacred anymore? I'm weeping gently into my keyboard at the thought of DAYS spent wasted crawling through the endless lines of emporiums eager to part me from my hard earned cash.

If Tam tried to spend that long shopping I would currently be serving life in a Florida penitentiary for murder. Although I suppose there might be such a thing as justifiable homicide ....... ;)

We usually devote at least two half days (Florida Mall & Premium outlets) and a couple of evenings (Mall at Millenia & LBV factory stores) if we have left the parks early enough. Oh and then we have a last minute visit to Walmart or somewhere like that for Lucky Charms and other favourite food items that we either can't get or are too expensive at home

:flower:

Shopping as in going to the mall, not very much.Maybe 1 day at the most.We do however spend alot in dtd and the park's.

We did a fair few shopping days on our last trip as we were there for 3 weeks. I love Florida Mall (especially the Department 56 and Yankee Candle stores), and Premium Outlets. Don't like Belz much nowadays and aren't that bothered if we don't go. I also enjoy wandering round Mall at Millennia, and love the food court there ::yes::

I hate shopping and spend as little time as possible doing it. I will usually go for an afternoon but that's it.

we usaly do the shoping on days where we are doing waterparks so its only half a day or a couple of hours i can spend all day in lowes DW sometimes drops me of while she visits wallmart nextdoor when iam finised i hook up with here in the card makeing section

Shopping is not what I go to Orlando for!

I dont allocate ANY shopping days into my plan at all. I have never been a big shopper & I am certainly not prepared to splend $$$$$ going to Orlando to shop!

I do get a few things unheard of in the UK but only if I see them, Head & Shoulders conditioner & Hershey's Cookies & Cream.

SEVEN days out of a three weeks holiday shopping???? Not a chance!

We usually visit the Florida Mall once or twice for a couple of hours at a time. Now that we know what stores are there, we tend to shop for specific items which keeps it short and sweet. Other than that, and possibly a brief trip to Wal-Mart, that's about it outside of WDW. I'd like to visit the Mall at Millenia on our next trip but if it cuts into valuable park time, I won't bother - it's not essential... :flower:

We love shopping! And the shopping in Florida is excellent.

We tend to do it in small chunks - so 2 hours here, three hours there. Probably a maximum of three days in total over a three week holiday? Though to be honest we also shop a lot in the theme parks also - a soft toy here, a photo frame there, a T Shirt or two etc etc....

To be honest, I enjoy doing WalMart & Target and the like as much as the Malls

We love shopping and there are numerous trips to Super Target, we also visit the Florida mall and Premium Outlets

if you define shopping as non-disney related shopping (that is, excluding DTD from the equation), then when i'm with the whole family we don't shop at all since they have zero tolerance for shopping....

if i were on my own, on holiday at WDW, i would probably spend at least one third of my time shopping (e.g. at Bed, Bath and Beyond; Borders; Best Buy; Saks; Nordstroms; Steve and Barry's; KMart; Target; Casual Male -- the tall man's shop; etc.)...
i might even spend half of my time shopping, since almost everything is so much cheaper in the states....

I think half a day at a time is our limit. Over 14 days, we had:

half day: Mall at Millenia
half day: Premium Outlets
1 evening: Premium Outlets
2 evenings DTD
half day: Walmart and Formosa Gardens area
1 evening: Old Town (although this was fun too!)

Think this covers it. Kepp up the good work Simon,
Claire xx

We dont allocate any shopping days to be honest. We used to have 1-2 shopping days, but this year we only want to go to Walmart for halloween costume on the way back from a park and the rest of the shopping will be whilst we are at the parks. Perhaps on the last day this year we might go to DTD and go shopping, but thats about as much shopping we do.
