How much pocket money do you take?

We are a family of four on the DDP and are having bottled water and small snacks delivered to our room, so we should not be buying too much by way of food. We will surely buy a few souvenirs and other experiences. How much pocket money should we bring? It will be in the form of gift cards and I am trying to figure out if I need a few more.

Thanks!

Do not forget tip $$, just for TS restaurants will put you back a good chunk of $$, minimum $20 per.

$100 cash...it usually last 3-4 days, then i get another $100 out

I always bring about $300.00 for a week. Balloons in the MK are cash only from the vendors on MS. They were $10.00 each last year.

How long are you going? How many kids do you have and how old are they? We are budgeting $100 a day for me, DH, DS5, DS2, and DD who will be less than 5 months old. Last time we went and used DDP, our oldest was under 3 so not included, so we are prepared for a few extra snacks this time since our youngest son won't be included, but will need a treat every time big brother gets one. The boys will get gift cards for their souvenirs based on behavior leading up to trip. (mainly just the oldest)

Depends. We're taking ~$500 for 9 days but 4 of those days are on a Disney cruise and we want to buy things at Nassau. Rest is for tips and the like.

I think we brought $1500 for the 5 of is in 2013 and went home with money-that was for food and souvenirs, well my kids bought some with their own money.

We will have about $400 in gift/rewards cards for 9 days. That should come close to covering us for tips and souvenirs. We will probably take another $50 in cash for anything cash only. Anything over that we would put on a credit card and pay off after we get home. We aren't big spenders. DH will spend $0. I don't typically spend more than $20 on myself but I was given $50 in gift cards as a gift so I will spend up to that. The kids will both have about $100 to spend. Both sets of grandparents will be there and great-grandma so I suspect if they want to spend more than their $100, funds will be available! We also wouldn't be overly strict on the $100 depending on what items they want to purchase. I'm hoping for $500 or less as the budget.

I think you are the best judge for how much you want to let everyone have to spend on souvenirs. My family always gave the kids a certain amount of money per day and it was each child's choice how they spent it...all at once or on little things. We plan around 100 per day in spending, or what we call fun, money for us 2 adults and 1 child.

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but we usually don't care much cash at all. (I tend to always lose it, somehow :D ) Cards work for just about everything. I'd say if you want to budget (especially with the kids), do gift cards. Once they are done, they're done.

We use credit cards for almost everything (collecting those airlines). I bring about $200 in small denominations for tips and small purchases. We typically do not go through it all during our stay.
