How much per point are annual dues/maint fees?

How much are annual maint. fees/dues/assessments, etc. Do they charge per point? From what I am reading, it sounds like it goes up from year to year. Do you owe monthly or once a year? Is it worth it?

I am trying to decide if we should buy or just keep renting points.
