How much notice will we have for Genie+?

Pretty sure she rode. I would hope that if you can only do one it wouldn't show as available once you'd picked it.

You never know, though do you? It could have been a 'glitch' or a gremlin in the '1st day' machine. I was poking around on MDE with wait times and it went as far as allowing me to see when the next LL pass was available. The button to choose it was there and didn't appear 'blacked out', but I didn't poke it, too chicken. Stitch might eat me.

I just think it's a shame that (apparently) TPTB aren't making a 'plain statement' on the DL/WDW G+ info pages that it's 'one and done'. At least I don't think they are, I haven't checked it in awhile. All it seemed to say was "Buy G+ and get LL passes for these rides" with no caveat "but you can only ride each one ONCE per day using an LL pass".

I really dislike the one ride per day. I understand the point is to spread people out. But, different age groups have different desires. Little kids might want to ride Dumbo three times whereas I don't intend to ride it at all. I want to ride BTMRR three times. It's like the old ticket package days where you went on rides you didn't want to because you had a ticket for it, and didn't have a ticket left for the ride you really wanted to go on. I guess we will be doing standby for BTMRR a lot. :(

If it must be limited, say if there are 10 rides, I wish they would just say you can use it 10 times for whichever rides you want, instead of once per ride . As I do not ride half of them, so would be nice to be able to do a few a couple of times at least.

I have motion sickness and at DL Roger Rabbit & Space Mtn are 'no gos' for me so that's two LL passes 'wasted'. I may give RRCS a chance and see if using the Scopolamine helps with that one, it did with ST and EE at WDW. SM I'm too chicken to take the chance. And I normally skip Autopia and Buzz ('meh' for me) but I expect now I'll ride those two since it's 'use it or lose it'.

In DCA it's Incredicoaster that's the 'no go' for me. Goofy's Sky School I haven't done in years but mostly because it's such a rough ride. I guess I'll give it a go. GRR I usually skip unless I'm staying at the Grand because who wants to get soaked? I guess I'll just start packing cheap ponchos for that one.

It'd be nice to be able to 'substitute' for those rides.

OK, so this is what I found on the WDW website (bolding mine);

"You can enjoy a Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane experience once per day. If you’d like to re-ride an attraction or see a certain show again within the same day, you are welcome to use our regular standby line."

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/genie/lightning-lane/#drawer-card-drawerRecommender
Sounds to me as if it's 'one and done'. IF people were able to obtain a 2nd LL pass it must have been a glitch or a bit of pixie dust.

Will it be the same at DL? I'd bet my mouse ears it will.

But is that individual purchased lightning lane? (Pay per ride) or the MaxPass replacement?

With the rollout, does that mean that they will no longer do the 7am boarding for ROTR?

That is what they did at WDW. They got rid of the virtual queue for ROTR before G+ went live.

If you can only get one "fastpass" per ride, then are you guaranteed to get a fastpass for each attraction that has one?
No you’re not. You might but there is no guarantee. It was always the same with MP/FP, you probably could but there’s no guarantee.

I mean, it's certainly better than the current situation for us, but overall way worse than maxpass. As someone else pointed out - a lot of rides my kids either don't care about, or only care to ride once. And other rides they'd rather ride a bunch of times. I can only see this being beneficial if they expect it to limit FP holders so standby goes faster but instead it will probably be the worst of all worlds - 1. more expensive 2. fewer times to rides 3. longer lines all around. Well done everyone!

The part I don't get with lack of re-rides is now they have my family standing in a 45 minute standby for GOTG in hopes of scoring a different song instead of shopping or eating. That is a lose/lose for both of us. Disney can't make money when I am standing in a line, and the reality is our money is really what they care about.

I would guess that when we see RotR go standby queue, we're getting close to Genie launch time. Or do we think that ride will stay virtual queue or ILL only?

I always thought that it would stay VQ because of VQ at Webslingers. :confused3 Don't ask me for reasoning behind it, just a total guess. Which knowing how accurate my predictions usually are, that means Rise will go standby. ;)

One ride per attraction per day is really dumb. If you have kids who don’t meet the height limits than you barely get any LL at all. A huge downgrade from MaxPass, which was amazing. AND it’s more expensive! I hope this means less people will use it so the standby lanes don’t get ridiculous.

OK, 1st thing - I've missed this side of the board so much! We have our 1st WDW trip coming up in January so I've been over there most of the time. I forgot how positive things are over here!

2nd, I wish they would have just re instituted maxpass. We absolutely adored Max pass and thought it was the best thing ever and I don't understand all the people who say it wouldn't work at Disney world. Maybe I don't understand because I've never been, but it seems like a great system and I would love to see them bring that back. We were all about G+ until I read the one ride per day thing and now I'm not so sure.

As to the original question, Disney loved to roll things out with no warning, don't they? I hope it's out in time for the OP to enjoy it!

G+ will be the same daily cost that MP was before closure. MP raised to $20/day back in February 2020.

100% agree it's a downgrade, though, and a lot of the value is lost for many families.

I'm definitely not going to opt to purchase G+ in advance for all days of a hopper, at least not my first trip. It'll be a day by day thing for me, maybe from now on. The 'one and done' really is a devaluation and it just may be that it's not worth it unless you're there during a really crowded and busy time. I guess it'll depend on how long those standby lines are once G+ and LL+ (aka ILL) gets into full swing AND how many LL passes for the 'good rides' are gone early in the day.

$20.00 a day. IIRC there are 19 G+ rides, so that's $1.05 a ride if you are able to get passes for all of them. BUT if you have rides you cannot ride and/or there are LL passes that sell out before you can claim one, that increases the 'cost' of each ride you do ride. There are 3 that are definite 'no gos' for me due to motion sickness, so that already increases my now-16 G+ passes to $1.25 per ride. Let's say each park 'sells out' one LL ride before I can get a pass. Now we're talking 5 passes I'll 'miss out on' which means I'm paying $1.43 per ride. I know that the 'base' cost, if one can get a pass for and ride every G+ ride, is pennies compared to the LL+ rides, but compared to the total number of MPs one could usually snag on a typical day it's probably at least 50% more expensive per ride than MP was.

I'm glad I'm not going til next Spring. I'll have (hopefully) 4 months or so of 'watching and waiting' to see if G+ really is worth it in the long run.
