How much notice will we have for Genie+?

We have a trip scheduled for Nov 1-3 and frankly I'm an idiot and thought "debuting fall" meant "surely by November." I am absolutely sick at the thought of taking my kids without maxpass - sorry, but if you cherish spending 75 minutes in a line with a barely 3 year old for RSR you're crazy or a better parent than I, I suppose - to the point where I'm considering doing a vip tour, which are words I never thought I'd say and certainly words my husband never thought I would say and he couldn't even bear to listen to me say them. haha. Anyway - how many days' notice was there for WDW, like a week? so theoretically nov 1 could still be a start date? ugh.

I'd say Nov 1 is still a possibility unless there turn out to be HUGE glitches and failures in the system at WDW. That gives IT 2 weeks (well, 13 days) to monitor the system and how it's working and then to fine tune it. Of course I know nothing about 'real' IT so I'm not sure if I'm being realistic or not.

As far as advanced notice, if they give more than 24 - 48 hours I'd be surprised. They'll use this initial period of G+ at WDW to 'fine tune' the system and see if they need to change anything to make it work at DL, then they'll offer it at DL with little notice. The less notice, the less time they'll have to listen to us grumble and bad mouth it in advance.

Well, one of the quibbles people have had was a total misunderstanding by a certain source.

Per a good friend at WDW today, you are NOT limited to one ride per attraction with Genie+. As long as there are slots available and you are able to book again, you can book a ride again. (NOT the paid ones like Rise - that IS only once.)

Possibly dumb question, but I'm assuming that means you can only hold one slot at a time though, right? (Which is a good thing!) So like, you can get a slot for the ride at 10, then ride it and book it again for 4 p.m. if that's available? Yes?

I see no notice of any signs being changed over today. I know a lot of people have said that can be an overnight thing in Disneyland but looking at some of the locations that have really well themed signs with built in clocks and stuff for FastPass… I’m not certain that could be a park wide overnight thing.

I don’t think it’ll be long, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a two or three day transition where some attractions have signs covered or updated between the two parks and that would be the largest hint that it’s days or a couple weeks away.

Lots of vloggers seemed up grab the "only 1 G+ ride per attraction per day" idea. I was wondering/thinking/believing that it was likely a misunderstanding somewhere. I'll continue to believe the throngs of "1 G+ ride per attraction per day" thinkers are wrong until proven differently. After all, there were no limits on FP or MP on how many times you could get FP/MP per attraction, other than not holding 2 at once.

Yeah, my friend who was there today was very clear - I asked her just to make sure and she said that it was not restricted for the Genie+ ones. I did not ask about the extra charge ones like MMRR or Rise.

Then someone is confused, or there are significant first day glitches (lol probably glitches, with Disney IT) 'cause people on social media were showing that it wouldn't let them book another Genie+ ride for ones they'd already used a Genie+ ride on, even if there was availability.

AHHHH!!! After reading about all this madness about DLR being a different beast, I am praying to the heavens that Genie+ will launch in DLR soon.

Come on, Chapek. ROTR sold out today. You know you love seeing that revenue stream in. And I know you don't want to miss out on more money. Get it working on the west coast. Seriously, TAKE MY MONEY for my visit in November!!! It may not be MaxPass (RIP, beloved pal :sad1: ) but I don't want standby. :sad2:

Love any updates from park-goers on when those Lightening Lane signs debut around the park. WDW had them up for at least 2-3 weeks, I think. I worry that the longer this goes without those signs, the longer Disney is waiting to see how G+ and ILL$$ works at WDW. Roll it out. Tweak later. :rotfl: Goodness, I sound like an addict begging for a hit.

Yeah, that is what I have been seeing today too, unfortunately, only once per ride. :(

I mean, if they can put Christmas stuff up all over the park in a week, certainly they can switch some signs over....right? RIGHT? hahaha. I have so many regrets over this trip already and it's still 2 weeks away!

IDK, I specifically asked her and she said that as long as times were available you could get another one.

Thankfully unlike most people, I think early experiences in the 80s with lines made me not allergic to them, so if I have to stand-by, I'll stand-by.

Grew up in the 80's, did those lines too, but I will whole heartedly admit I am now severely allergic to them. LOL.

Yep, my kid doesn't know the struggle because dh and I won't do it. One taste of Fast Lane at CP/KI, Unlimited Express Pass at Universal we were sold. Worth every penny in our eyes. We have been ruined.

OK, I know I'm being dense here. Did your friend actually GET 2 passes for the same ride or did she just go as far as looking to see if it showed passes available on G+?

Pretty sure she rode. I would hope that if you can only do one it wouldn't show as available once you'd picked it.

A few folks on the Disney World side of things all confirmed no re-rides for the day 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s always possible they were running an A/B test on folks, but I would say that’s a risky move.

I see a few possibilities going toward:
  1. Differing rules for DW and DL. They already have different prices and DW had a lot more LL+, or whatever it is called, ride options. Ultimately the traffic patterns and types of visitors differ so they could end up with different rules.
  2. Things starting more limited and becoming less limited over time. As we’ve seen with the intro to G+, folks can sure get angry when you take stuff away from them
  3. This is our life now. Sorry.
While I hope things change, I don’t think I have a huge problem with #3 personally. We are transitioning from AP’s to folks maybe visiting once or twice a year so we will be there for 5 days at a time, getting G+ on everyday so if we really want to ride multiple times, we can just do it over a few days. If it means the availability of rides is better than in the MP days, it could even be better.
