How Much Noise in Connecting Rooms

I happen to have a connecting room on deck 7 (7082) and was wondering if this arrangement will really increase the noise factor from our next door neighbors dramatically as I have read in some posts? Any one stay in connecting rooms with any comments on the noise level?

We had an adjoining room on deck 2 and we could hear the noise from our neighbors alot! They had little kids and we could hear them crying like they were in the room with us! I loved deck 2 as far as ship noise but you can very much hear the noise through the adjoining door.

We heard so much noise from our neighbors to the NON-connecting room side. Not really sure how much difference the door makes - it is a DOUBLE thick door (one door in each cabin) so if you want to connect them - like we do - you have to open two doors.

 Goodmorning jmf,

I too have this same concern, I also have this same stateroom on the November 9th Western. Any report back would be greatly appreciated.

We had the extreme in our adjoining room...we had neighbors who argued and fought daily. We heard every word and it was obvious when the fights turned physical (yes, we did call security)

During the rare times of a NORMAL level of conversation next door, it was very muffled and not disturbing.

But remember, these folks were the extreme and very loud - didn't seem to care who heard them!!!

Having stayed in Connecting and Non-connecting rooms, I really cannot tell the difference. If you get a loud family next you (anywhere hotel or cruise) you will hear them. So far we have been lucky and had peaceful cruises so far.

We normally stay in non-connecting staterooms (having learned our lesson on Sovereign of the Seas), but we did take one of the connecting secret porthole rooms once. We had the "kickboxers" next door (i.e. kids who for some reason seemed to have a compulsion to kick or hurl each other into the door). Obviously, that made things pretty noisy! It seemed noiser than a non-connecting room, but that could have been related to the fact that they were just a noisy family. We did have "slammers" next door on one other occasion, although we couldn't hear their voices as well as we could with the door.

I have to be honest with you...we have been on 3 cruises

2 non-connecting rooms- great- both on deck 5- no noise from anywhere.
THEN we got 5522. We had more noise than quiet. We could hear their child crying when they came in late- usually after 12 midnight. She would cry for 30 minutes or more. We could hear what they ordered for room service, could hear their beeper go off, talking, bath water running and splashing- you get the picture!
But we also had a lot of noise from door across the hall where the staff goes in and out of. It is a heavy metal door and we heard it open and close quite often.

I would only stay in a connecting room IF I was with the people who were in the other connecting room. I am sure that our neighbors heard us also- because we are early to bed- early to rise kind or people. I hope that we did not wake them up- we made a conscious effort to be quite so as not to disturb them in the mornings.
