How much negotiating did you do when you purchased a DVC resale?

Actually a loaded contract could have three years of points available. We were lucky enough to buy 4 out 5 of our contracts as triples. For a 2006 contract this would mean 2004, 2005 and 2006 points were available. They are hard to come by but well worth the wait if you want to get the best value.
OK you've got to explain exactly what you mean here because I'm intrigued by this but I'm not understanding where the extra points are coming from. You're saying you bought contracts that had MORE points than the total of all of the previous use year's points banked into the current use year, all of the current use year's points and all of the next use year's points available? Details, details!

We had luck with this as well (twice actually). Most recently, we purchased 200 BWV points in July 2004 (Sep UY). It had all 2002 points (banked and expiring 8/31/04) all 2003 points (banked and expiring 8/31/2005) and all 2004 points available. So we really did have 600 points available at closing. We did expedite closing and were able to rent out the distressed 2002 points in time. The contract was $76 at the time and we paid no dues on the 2002 points (we did reimburse for 2003 I believe). The other example was a 50 point VWL contract a year or two earlier for $70 with three years points.

Similar for us too! We bought in 4/04 (June use year) and we had some banked 03, all 04, and all 05 points. We paid what the seller was asking. It was the contract that had what we wanted: location, points, use year. There was no way we were going to lose the contract over a few dollars. Luckily for us, we passed ROFR. Looking back, we paid a crazy low price for a loaded BWV contract ($72/point).

Here are the details you requested for our contracts purchased in 2006:

275 BCV 168 '04 pts, 275 '05 pts & 275 '06 pts $91 purchased June 06
170 BWV 170 '04 pts, 170 '05 pts & 170 '06 pts $85 purchased March 06
230 OKW 230 '04 pts 230 '05 pts & 230 '06 pts $77 purchased April 06
170 HH 168 '04 pts 170 '05 pts & 170 '06 pts $70 purchased early 2006

When you get triple points it really helps to make the purchase price more reasonable.

We just paid the asking price. Never gave any thought of offering something lower. Becomming a member was much more important to us. JMO

These contracts with all of these points are great, but keep in mind that they are not small contracts.

Triple points, wow! Love it!

How did you come across such great contracts? Was an agent keeping an eye out for you and grabbing them?

OK, I think we may be saying the same thing in different words because when I look at the contract details, I still don't see more than 3 years worth of points: previous Use Year's ('04) points banked into current UY ('05), all current UY's ('05) points available, and all of the next UY's ('06) points available. Based on your comments on my earlier post, it sounded like you had somehow gotten more than 3 year's worth of points with your contracts.

At any rate, those are all great contracts!

We paid the asking price. It wouldn't have been worth it to risk losing the contract either to Disney or to another buyer.

You can have an agent look out for them. 3 out of the 4 I found myself by monitoring the listings several times each day. It takes a lot of luck.

I offered the asking price per point but only to split the MF which actually brought the total price down significantly. I did not feel the buyer should automatically pay for MF. In my case there were no '05 point and all '06 points were coming in Oct. I did not want to by MF fees for 3/4 of the year that did not have any points associated with it. (MF are paid for the calendar year, not the UY)
