How much money to take?!

Ok, so we're off in just over 3 weeks (me, ds6 and dd3) we are there for 4 and a bit days (arrive at 2pm and leave at 6pm) we have half board standard and have booked chez remy, auberge and cafe mickey which I know we will have to pay the extra for against our vouchers. I'm just really panicking about how many euros to take, I know that there are two other meal times to find somewhere to eat (arrival and departure day) plus snacks throughout the days. Also auberge and chez remy are lunchtime bookings so will need to eat in the eve too. Not forgetting souvenirs and the rest etc.

Anyone been recently for the same amount of days and meal plan? Can you give me a rough estimate of what was spent? I know there a shops and stuff to get food outside of disney but I'm going on my own with two little ones and don't really want to venture away from the resort.

Any help will be really appreciated!!

Set a budget maybe?
Like I will give the kids x to spend each, I will spend x on them (I always buy mine a toy each and a tshirt).
Then its just a matter of what you want to buy for yourself and if you are bringing home anything. I normally do €100 a day and €200 miscellaneous!
Sometimes I come home with pennies but last time I came home with a good bit and mine includes having to buy all our meals.
Are your vouchers full or half board?
You get as many vouchers as nights that your booking is for.
It really is subjective though, loads of people do fantastic trips on a budget and others do fantastic trips and spend more than a new booking would cost!
Are you an impulse buyer?!

I changed up 400 euros today and am going to change up some more before we go. Our vouchers are half board. I will give kids spending money but I'm just as disney mad as they are and can't help but buy everything I see, especially as we'll be on holiday. Ah this is so hard.

Dont stress!! It will be grand!
I wouldn't change a huge amount more unless it would cost a fortune to put it on your card with exchange rates. Draw up a rough budget, if you need a hand with costings Stitch song on facebook is my shopping bible! And I think Disney Gazette or Radio Disney Club have loads of articles. DLPGuide.com is good for an idea on meal costs and menus but feel free to ask too! Happy to help if I can.
Maybe I'm a bit budget orientated but I like to plan it out so I'm less worried about watching my spends. Plus you can make any budget work for you, especially with meal vouchers already taking care of the bulk of what your biggest costs would be.

i agree with kizzabel - i know i can do DLP for 3 (adults now as the kids are aged over 12) for less than 100 euros per day, including all meals, snacks and souvenirs.

So I wouldn't change any more cash into euros, take what you have and a debit or credit card just in case - I've used my card for a meal or 2 there, and also withdrawn cash from the atm in the park, and the rate is not bad at all, because you get bank rate, not tourist rate, on the exchange.

With regards to shopping, what we do is look to see what we would like and then buy on the last day. It helps my niece and nephew really decide what they want to buy instead if buying the first thing they see

We went a year and a half ago. We went for a week. No meal plans. We had £1000 for the week, me, partner and daughter age 2. With the £1000 it was way too much, we came home with money and that never happens! I usually give myself £100 budget a day

yep, thats exactly what we do too - window-shop every day, then buy on our last on 2nd-last day.

Hi Harveylolamumma,

I'm the very same as i've got 5 of us (4ad + 1ch) going for a 4 night stay in November so im trying to work out how much to take. I was planning on doing the meal plans but my family have asked to eat in a few places that won't accept them so I have decided to forget about the plans and just take a pre-paid travel card instead to cover meals which was recommended to me by the very kind ladies on here .

During our stay we will probably just end up grabbing a quick hotdog or burger for lunch but my dh has said to plan for sit down meals just in case.

So to give me an idea of cost i jotted down all the restaurants we would like to eat at over the 4 days along with the cost of an average meal there, the cheapest on our list being pizza planet at 18 euro each and the most expensive being Inventions at 60 euro each and for all the meals + drinks it came to €280 per adult + €140 per child for the 4 days, so about £1000/€1260 for the 5 of us, I know I have probably overestimated but anything left over will go to the kids to let them bring home some some souvenirs.

I think im going to keep the travel card separate just for meals then take some cash for our day to day spending money, I like the reassurance of knowing the meals are covered. This is our first trip back to the park in 6yrs and our 4yr olds 1st ever visit so i just want to make sure we have enough but i will be keeping a track of everything so on our next trip i will know exactly how much we need to take x
