How much money do you carry?

We have had DDP twice in the last 9 months and we only had $200 cash for 8 days and 7 nights for each trip. However, we also used our credit card (about $200) to buy things for the kids.

How many are in your party? If you have the dining plan I would say for 2 people 500 bux should be plenty. You just never know what surprises may pop up or you see that special souvenir item you may want to have. You will always want to have some cash along. Splurge a little. Isn't that what vacation is for? Have fun!

We bring NO cash except $10 worth in dollar bills for the toll roads and tips.

There are ATMs, you can cash a check, and we charge everything to our room that we want to buy. Other than tip money for meals purchased on DDP, we found no need for cash.

We used under $150 cash during our 8 days in the world for tips and a couple of taxi cab rides from resort to resort. Pretty much everything else went on our credit card via our "Keys to the World". So easy!

I generally use credit cards where possible but I bring a couple hundred, mostly in tens and under for things like snacks in the parks and tips. Even though I charge meals I like to tip with cash.

We bring $20 with us daily. We use our room key to charge to our Disney VISA card to that we can earn Reward $$$. Now if you're not staying on property I would encourage leaving your $$$ in your bank account (at least most of it) and use your Debit card to pay. It's safe and accepted...

That's the length of time I normally go for (no dining plan) and $200 is fine. Bear in mind though that that is pretty much just meals for one. I shop with my debit and that is around $200 as well. I've found the more often I go the less I buy. I have certain things I know I am going to purchase and I try and avoid impulse buying if I can.

I got picked pocketed (my wife beleives I dropped my wallet) in the extra terrestial encounter (now the stitch ride) at the magic kingdom on our honeymoon in 2001. I had 400 bux in there and as 25/23 year old newly weds that was a big deal. They found the wallet the next day no money. hard Lesson learned

That's what I was getting at. Unless you do not have a credit card or Bank Card, there is no reason to bring a ton of cash into the parks. I'd be worried about losing it.

Question about the above. "TIP money for meals purchased on the DDP" Is that in excess to the tip that is figured into the plan?

Cash is bad... I plan on bringing $50 or so down for the upcoming 6 day trip.

Bring credit cards and debit cards. Getting pick-pocketed in WDW is probably up there on the probability scale with getting hit by lightning, but I suppose it could happen... more likely is to simply lose the card, or purse/wallet. Before you leave, write down the customer service phone numbers off the back of these cards, and put that piece of paper in a safe spot in the luggage. That way, you can quickly call and cancel the cards, if you lose them. Another tip, if you're REALLY paranoid, is to keep one card hidden in your luggage in your room, and carry another card with you for purchases (or, if traveling with a spouse, have them carry it) - makes it very unlikely you'll both lose a card at the same time. And even if you do lose the card, your credit card company can overnight a card to you at the hotel.

All that aside, I've never lost money or a wallet at WDW. *fingers crossed*
