I think we have a LOT of laundry! It's DH, me, DD5, DD3, and DD6 months. I am doing 8 loads a week. DH has a lot from the gym, DD5 and DD3 still have occasionally accidents at night and of course the baby has almost 2 loads by herself. When you fact in bed linens, and towels, forget it. I did laundry over the weekend and DDs hamper and my hamper is already full causing me to have a small tantrum this morning. I have tried putting a load in at night, putting a load in the morning, folding a basket each night so I am not doing it all on the weekend. No matter what, it seems like there is always laundry to do. Any suggestions, ideas, is this amount average, below average, above?

That's far less than I do a week. But I tend to be quite anal about laundry. I've had too jmany color bleed onto other clothes so I overboard separating into color groups.

You just have to live with the fact that laundry is one of those household jobs that is NEVER done. There are 4 of us. I can get most of it done, then we all put on our pj's- and there is already enough for another load. Of course, it can't be washed because color wise its about 4 loads- so it must wait. Then by time the 4 loads are all big enough, there is some how 8 loads to be done! Never ends.

I know exactly what you mean. It is me, DH, DS4, and DS 16 months. I feel like all I ever do is laundry. I try and do at least 3 loads a day, and even then I can't seem to keep up.

I also over sort my clothes. I have darks, lights, reds, towels, whites, and sheets!! I need a laundry fairy to come and help me out!!

8 loads a week would seem like a dream to me! I do 4 or 5 loads a day - every day. It is me, DH (who also goes to the gym, yuck), ds (22 - in college but living at home) dd (8), dd (7) and ds (5). In the summer months two other ds's are home from college. The younger kids are in parochial school so there are uniforms, play clothes when they get home, gym suits etc. Everyone uses one towel per day so that's a load of towels alone a day. My hampers are never completely empty.

8 a week for 5 people, 3 of which are under 5...I say you are getting off easy. I do at least that much for DH, DS and I. Yes that is w/out towels and sheets. That adds at least another 6 loads. I do 12-14 a week if I go all out with sheets/blankes etc for 1/2 as many people.

wow, at 8 loads a week, thats a little more than a load a day. Most people I know do anywhere from 14-18 loads a week. Most do at least 2 every day.

8 loads doesn't sound too bad to me. I must be doing between 14-20 loads for three of us, mainly because of all the sweaty, filthy clothes I get from my son who plays both HS baseball and hockey. He's got school clothes, practice clothes for both, game clothes for both and then clothes he changes back into at home, and then p.j's. Plus all our clothes, and DH plays adult league ice hockey. Plenty of smelly men clothes here! If I didn't do wash a couple of times a day, the laundry room would reek.

My washer is never dry!

I usually have one or two loads every day. Then, there's sheet day, I have 4 loads of sheets.

Currently though, I'm on laundry strike. I've washed everyone's laundry but, it's all still in baskets.

There are 4 of us and I say that 8 loads sounds good. I wash from Friday evening until Sunday morning (all weekend). I estimate that I do about 11-12 loads each weekend.

Eight loads a week...that would be awesome! There are four of us...me, DH, DD's 12 and 10. In the winter especially there are all of those JEANS and PANTS that take up so much space. And what about the sweaters that have to be washed individually and air-dryed? UGH! I probably do 2 loads a day...when baby arrives next summer I guess I'll be adding more!!

We were just talking about this today at work. I do 10 to 15 loads a week with three of us in the house. I try to do a couple loads during the week but I do the bulk of it on Saturdays. I don't mind the washing, drying and folding it's the putting away that I hate lol.

I remember those days when you could get away with less laundry...and then they <kiddos> grow up and have adult size clothing.....It is now me, DH, DS15 and DD13. I probably do at least 18 loads a week... I keep threatening the kids that the time has come for them to do their own laundry, but I never follow through. I actually don't mind washing. I HATE putting away and since the kids put their own stuff away, it really isn't too bad.....

Accidentally shrink some of their stuff - that's how my mom transitioned me :rotfl: I told her I didn't want her ruining anything else so I started doing all my own laundry. It was great because I was totally trained by the time I went to college and I was the resident laundry expert on the hall because none of the other girls had ever had to do laundry before! :teeth:

There are 6 of us, most of the time DD20 does her own laundry, but for the rest of us, and towels, linens, etc. I do easily a load or two a day, then on Tuesdays I do more since I'm home all day, so probably at least a dozen loads a week, sometimes more.

There are four of us, DH, me, DS4 and DD2. I do 1-2 loads per day, probably running close to 10 loads per week. We don't have many clothes, so if I didn't do laundry at least every other day, we'd be running around naked pretty quickly.

There is just me and DH and I do at least 5 loads a week. He is a land surveyor and he works in the field a lot. He gets everything muddy and sweaty. I am so sick of sorting laundry.

We are also the "trashiest" people I know. The kitchen trash can is ALWAYS full.

I do about 5 loads of laundry a week for me, Dh, and younger DS. When older DS is home from college, it goes up to 7 loads a week. I do believe that my laundry reproduces in the hamper overnight. When I open the hamper every morning, it just seems to be overflowing and I had just done a load of laundry the day before. Some day I will catch it in the act and put a stop to it!

I told DH about this post and he said I need to up the amount by 4. I guess it all runs together. But at least I see I am not alone!
