we hope to get back at least 4000
we claim 0 married as single
so they withhold alot
we have 2 kids but dont use them as dependents
we paid 3 years in a row before last year so ....

Were getting back $4,100.00, but it is unintentional. The DW started her new job as a SAHM in Jan 05', as I was having extra taken out to cover our liability. We dropped a tax bracket this year due to the loss of her income and bingo, a refund. Gotta adjust my W/H this morning so this doesn't happen next year. I'm not in the business of giving interest free loans. :thumbsup2

We're getting about $100 back. I'm actually pretty surprised it's not more, because DH only worked a part time job for 2005, making barely more than minimum wage. Plus he's a full time student so we get to write off his tuition (and my student loan interest).

Oh well!

$7470 WITHOUT EIC. I just had to toss that in there. Hubby works a lot of overtime and it's taxed at a higher rate, plus we have extra taken out each week. We claim not married with 0 dependents too.

Ditto.

We're getting around $7500 without EIC, a good bit of that is thanks to college tuition credits.

We're not done yet (still waiting on DW's K-1 form), but right now, it's looking like between 6,000 - 7,000 back, mostly due to things we did not plan for at the beginning of the year. Most of it'll go into a fund to pay for next year's taxes. :rolleyes1

$3,553 from federal and $136 from State. My DH had a couple bonuses last year which are taxed pretty high so we were happy to get some of it back!

Boy golfgal, I wish we could deduct instruments. We just spent $2000 on a trumpet! :rolleyes2

So far it's about $5000. I'm still waiting on DH's loan interest info from Sallie Mae. It's going towards fall tuition for me, bathroom tiles, and credit cards. oh and new glasses for me and DH if there's any left over.

I haven't done our taxes yet, will probably do them this week, but I am 99% sure our refund will be about $20. That is what it usually is. I have our withholdings fine tuned so we only pay in what we owe. :teeth:

We've estimated the refund should be $800 or so. We haven't gotten DH's w-2 yet (we hope to have it by Feb. 6 or so, yeah it's late but the company doesn't care...) so I pluged in the numbers from last years w-2. He did make a little more this year, but that means they also withheld more, so we figure it should be close.

Next year should be bigger, we will have more in the way of real estate tax and mortgage interest to claim since we'll be in the new home a full year by that point! :) I know some people feel it's a "free" loan to the Feds, but with interest rates at about 1%, I feel I can be generous! :)
