How much is Universal Express perk worth...am I insane?

We have stayed at UO before (PBH) and loved it! However, we have recently adopted two older children, so now we have 5 kids and would need 2 rooms. I absolutely LOVE the Universal Express perk. We are going to Orlando for 2 weeks in June and staying at a Marriott Vacation Club resort. Planning to do UO for 2 days. I booked 2 rooms at RPR just to get the Univ. Express benefit. Am I crazy? It is going to cost $500! Should I book just one room and trade off family members who use it, or buy 2 one-day express passes each day, but that's not that much cheaper, and you only get one ride a piece with those. We've always gone to Universal in the off-season, so I just can't imagine the lines in late June with no Universal Express. What do you think I should do? (By the way, I haven't mentioned this reservation to DH yet, I know he'll think I'm crazy to want to spend the extra $, but he also loves that perk!) Your advice please!!!:confused3

I don't think you are crazy at all.

But then this is coming from a person that has a room booked at both Buena Vista Palace and the Portofino in March because she won't even consider Universal without FOTL. Even during a slower season. :rotfl:

We are going down to Orlando in March for a cheerleading competition. Our daughter is required to stay in the same hotel as the rest of the team. So, a room at Buena Vista Palace it is. But....my family wants to do Universal while we are there, so we booked a suite (platinum upgrade) at the Portofino too.

So, nope, don't think you are crazy at all to book a couple of rooms at RPR for the FOTL :goodvibes

Sorry, didn't read that you have 5 kids, deleted earlier post.

The main reason I stay at any of the Universal resorts is for the Universal Express perk. If they got rid of it, I most likely would not stay on site. So yes, I'd say it is worth it. Especially if you don't get to go all the time.

Nope...don't think you're nutz.... 5 people getting up and out the door early to rush around the parks before they get crowded...that doesn't sound like a 'vacation' to me. Stay onsite...you'll be glad you did....especially late June (when we normally go).... by 11am waits will be an hour! :scared: (Just think of it as a good 'investment'....spending that money so you ENJOY your VACATION and DON'T spend it standing in lines :headache:

Thank you all! Now, I not only booked 2 rooms, but I added a night! When the Southwest dates opened up, I had to shift our dates by a day earlier each way, so now UO is our last 2 nights. Oh, I'm dreaming of the beautiful boat ride to the parks now...:lovestruc

Oh you poor, poor woman! You HAD to add another night..... :upsidedow

HAVE FUN!!!

There's no way I'd go in June without FOTL! or any other time of year for that matter. Once you try it, you never want to visit from offsite again!
My kids like to go on their favs over and over so it would be very disappointing even to buy Express Passes.
