How much is too much?

I'm just thankful to all the grown men and women that chase a stupid cartoon mouse, it keeps my taxes and college tuition down.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!

Well, at least I know what I am dealing with here...

I guess people in Florida are not allowed to defend themselves and are supposed to take all the rants of those out of state. Debbie and I have been going to the Fort since the 70's and know what has happened to the Fort through the years. I do not agree that it is our personal playground, however, most of you do benefit from the locals' knowledge on this board because we do go so much and have gone over the years. To make the assumption that we are spoiled and that we are brats because we are going so often is childish and to continue bashing us for the mere sake of where we live is wrong. I asked someone to stop. This is not the first time this has been mentioned and not the purpose of the OP's post. So, GOOD GRIEF, is just about right in my opinion.

Now, I still say, for me, Disney has crossed the line, at least for the present, with the cost of a campsite and what I get for it.

Do you live in Florida too? :lmao:

How did I miss a contentious thread like this? Oh, that's right, I pretty much stick to the CB now.

The only time I stay at FW is when I stay with my sister Debbie. I can't be bothered with a 24 hour drive and bringing all my equipment for just me. None of my kids are thrilled with Disney - so when we go camping together it's in the mountains - FW holds no allure for them. Plus my wife doesn't like camping so when we go to Disney together we stay at SoG or offsite in a timeshare or at another WDW resort.

I must say looking at all the deals Disney offers now, the resorts are a much better deal IMO. We're staying at POFQ in May.

As for Floridians thinking the Fort is theirs exclusively? I don't get that. I've met tons of people at the Fort and I think the only Floridians I've ever met were Debbie and her husband - hopefully I'll meet more in October Jen, Pete and others and hopefully Jim who wishes he was a Floridian).

Well that's it for now. I gotta go back and review this thread and see where Jen might have gotten points.

Oh, and unlike Pete, I LOVE the parks - they're so me. I love camping too, but IMO FW is not camping. They have flush toilets and electricity. I do have a great affinity to stall # 2 though. And we all share a great love for alcoholic beverages. That's what real campers do. Drink.

I'll drink with y'all anytime...... but only if you stop hating Floridians.

I love Floridians! Especially when they let me camp with them. I'm looking forward to tipping a few with you guys!

Wait a minute - aren't you from New Jersey?

Did you see what top end Yankee tickets are going for???? $2,600. I wonder how many derivative traders bought some...

I might even have to make a special trip up in May to make a first meeting before the hub bub in Oct. I can't wait!

(We have assimilated Pete, he has dual citizenship.)

That would be GREAT. Sunday, May 17th is our no parks day. We could meet at POFQ or DTD or even (gasp) FW. We're planning on eating at Capn Jacks that night. Anyone else care to join us?????? Debbie????

They were all Floridian traders buying the tickets in order to drive up the costs for the "locals"! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: Did you guys not wonder why MOST of the MLB spring training camps are located in......FLORIDA!!??!! Boo-Yah!!!

Rays tickets are fairly reasonable and they can stay in their home state for spring training. So can the Marlins - and their tickets can also be bought by the "average Joe". GO RAYS!!:woohoo: :cheer2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Ummmmm, I don't think you met me. I think I was kind of "thrusted" upon you when I was born. Dad said so. Rick was the "added bonus", and for the record.... he was actually BORN in Florida. Therefore in his humble opinion, he belongs here. Due to the fact he's my DH, that makes me Floridian by injection. ;)

Jim,

I hereby welcome you as a new resident of FL. I have that power.

It has mostly been the local, weekend crowd that, over the years, has kept FtW afloat. Again, up until 2001, you mostly saw Florida plates on the RV's at FtW, and even now, Florida plates still comprise a majority of the campers at FtW - except for maybe 4 - 5 weeks out of the year that are the big vacation weeks.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Fellow Fort Lovers.....Yes, we Floridians are indeed lucky to be so close to WDW. As are those who love casinos and are close to Vegas or AC or those who love plays and are close to Broadway or Yankees fans who get to attend games in person or those who love the outdoors and live near Yellowstone Park or Alaska or those up North who get to see Fall or those who live near the Grand Canyon and are able to see one of the wonders of the world, etc., etc.

Disney realizes if the locals didn't support the Fort as well as WDW in general in down times, WDW would not be as successful as it is.

I completely agree with des1954 about the huge and expensive RV's at the Fort now. Why else would WDW spend so much money for upgrades to accomodate the big rigs. I also agree there will be a down turn in occupancy at the Fort on the horizon. And guess who they will be calling upon to fill the void. You guessed it, the lowly, lucky Floridian.

Also, MHO.
