How much is too much Disney?

If I could have my dogs nearby, my family could stay a long time. We went for eight days in 2004 and dd cried because she missed the dogs. We could easily stay 3-4 weeks if we take the dogs!

The first few times we went to WDW was for 7 days and we always left wishing we had at least one more day. From then on we always went for 8-14 days and never got tired of it.

I suppose a lot depends on how you spend your time and what you don't know you're missing. If you go at a fast pace and try to do everything you can certainly wear yourself out in a few days. Also, if you stay off-site, you may miss a lot of resort time, which is a big part of our "magic."

After the first vacation we started taking our time and enjoying the atmosphere as much, if not more, that the rides and attractions. We also spent time relaxing, swimming, and exploring the resorts. That all started 20 years ago and going every year we still haven't seen and done everything (there's a lot more than the theme parks).

We now live just over an hour away and enjoy going for the day (let's have lunch with Mickey) and still plan on staying at one of the resorts now and then because that's an important part of the experience for us.

Too much? I don't think so.

Well 5 days in a row of the parks are enough for us. :confused3 The idea of an extended visit, even with rest days in between, doesn't appeal to me either.

Same here, the longest I'm interested in is 6 nights. After that we're all tired of each other and can't wait to go back home!

Don't get me wrong, I do love being on vacation and at WDW with my family. But after a while, I just want to sleep in my own bed again, shower in my own bathroom, etc. What's the old saying....."there's no place like home!"

I would say to them, hunny you need to find another place to vacation or another family!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I loved that!

We usually stay 7 days mainly because I like to go at the slow times and don't like to take dd out of school too long. We stayed 14 days at Christmas 2004 and it was fabulous! I did really want a homecooked meal by then but we were by no means bored with anything. :teeth:

If I win the lotto, I'm getting a villa for a month or more in the summer and having my family come with me. It's my dream vacation! (Plus, I'll be able to cook occasionally.) :teeth:

I live here, 2 hours from disney. So i go constantly. For my co-workers its almost an ongoing joke... is Stephenie going to disney *this* weekend?

And in fact, despite it being super bowl sunday, i'll be there sunday. (with no crowds :-D)

We do two big trips though, they usually last 4-9 days. But if i won the lotto... id live there. Seriously.

On our longest visit we stayed 6 days - 5 days in the parks and one day resort hopping, dd, etc. It was just right. For me, it wouldn't be that I'd be bored longer, it's just that part of the excitement is NOT being able to do it all. Leaving something undiscovered adds to the excitement and the possibility of coming back.

On most trips, we go Wednesday-Sunday. Our last trip we did a Saturday-Saturday and that was too long. I had enough Disney by that point and was ready to get back to the real world. I love WDW and have a great time there, but anything more than a week is overkill for me. We also go 2-3 times a year though, so shorter trips work well for us. When I read about people who go for 2 or 3 weeks, I wonder what they do that whole time. To each his own...

Coming from the UK most of us go for at least 14 days as it takes a while to get over the jet lag etc.

We are DVC members so I guess we won't ever get tired. I can only really get just over two weeks off work at any one time at present but who knows for the future. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Well last year we went for about 2 weeks, we also did Universal for 3 days. This was only the 3rd time with my kids, 1997, 2000 and then 2005. My kids were 14 & 17 on this last trip and I have to say that they were ready to leave when we did, probably before.

I think they were anxious to get home to their friends. Also, even though they enjoy it there, there was a "been there done that" kind of feeling for them. I'm almost afraid to admit that I sort of felt that way too.

I think the next time we go it will be just my DH and myself and we will "do" WDW much differently. Much more slowly, enjoy the resort more, etc. I may get my youngest to go back again, but I doubt that my older son will want to go back. I'm hoping that when he has kids, he will want to take them there and maybe grandmom can tag along !!
