Current CRO Pricing (effective 3/20/2014):
QSDP: $41.99 (adults), $16.03 (children)
DDP: $60.04 (adults), $19.23 (children)
DxDP: $109.53 (adults), $29.86 (children)

Current DVC Pricing (effective 1/1/2014):
QSDP: $39.64 (adults), $15.75 (children)
DDP: $58.66 (adults), $18.88 (children)
DxDP: $104.94 (adults), $29.51 (children)

If you are looking for 2015, most likely DVC will go up to at least the CRO price on 1/1/15.

Silly question as I am new to all of this, is this per person per day and do you have to buy it for all the days you are going to be there or can you just do some of them?

Pricing is per person/per night and all registered guests must be on the same plan for all nights of the reservation.

Per person, per night of the reservation, an 8 day/7 night reservation would be the price times 7, but you could use the plan credits from the time you check-in until 11:59pm on your check-out day.

It must be for the entire length of your room reservation, everyone in the room must be on the same DDP for the entire stay.

Thank you, that is what I needed to know.
Based on this I think we pass this time, our reservation is for 10 days but we are only doing 7 in the parks, that would be a lot of extra. I think we will stick to shopping and cooking most in the room and eating at the park what we can carry in + snacks as needed.

FYI, some of the best places to eat are not in the parks @ all, IMO - all resort restaurants (think Ohana @ the Poly, 1900 Park Faire character buffet @ GF, Boma buffet @ AKL, Cape May seafood buffet @ BC, etc.) and most DTD restaurants take the dinning plan - not saying the dinning plan is necessarily a good fit for you, but wanted to make sure you knew that you didn't have to enter a park to use your dinning credits.

One more question on this, I know now that everyone who gets the dining package has to get the same one but do all members HAVE to get a package? Could just one of us get the meal plan (there will be 5 total in our party my, my wife and daughter then a friend and his daughter).

If you get a dining plan, all persons over the age of 2 that are listed on the room reservation must be on that plan for all nights of the reservation.

All are required to buy it for every night of the reservation. This is how Disney makes money. Otherwise, the big eaters in the group would buy it and the small eaters not. Or if it was not every night, everyone would load up on the nights they have it and eat light on the other nights.

Is this discount something new?

Also, if I book DP for friends (they are not DVC) staying on pts under my account, do they get the discount?

It isn't really a discount. DVC sets the price for the dining plan annually. Cash reservation prices change at Disney's whim. Each year the DVC price will catch up to current cash price when the contract renews.

If you book the dining plan on a points reservation, whoever is staying there gets the DVC price. But again, this is a contractual annual arrangement, not a discount plan (for what that distinction is worth...)

If it's a split stay, can you get the dining plan only for a portion of your trip? For example, we are staying at the VGF for 2 nights and BCV 5 nights. The reservations are linked. Could we get the dining plan only for the VGF portion of our stay (2 nights) ?
Thanks,
Tina
