Okay, so I know this is a dumb question, but here goes. I booked with DVC points. How much is it to book through a TA or DCL for a Nov. cruise. We are in 2 rooms. Cat 6 & Cat 11. Just thinking of re-booking while on our cruise in Nov. Just not sure how much it really is.

Thanks for all your help. I haven't even been on my first cruise and already I want to go on another.::yes::

I don't know if this will help, we didn't book with DVC points. But for our family of 5, we also got a cat 6 and across the hall a cat 11 (much cheaper this way) we paid $8800. No air, transfers or Ins. We are going Aug 7, seven day eastern. I hope this helps.
PS. We booked with a TA.

I just spoke to DCL the other day and got a quote on a Cat7 and

Cat 11 right across the hall for a 7 day western on Dec 3 2005

for a total of $5859.40 without air, transfers or insurance. That is

for 2 adults and 4 children ages 10, 9. 6, and 4.:Pinkbounc

I had no clue it was that much!!!!::yes:: Maybe this will be the only one we go on. We are a family of 5. If you put airfare onto that you're talking close to $7,000. I little high for me. I was hoping if I re-booked while on, it might save us some money.

Don't be discouraged. In Oct. of last year we booked two Cat. 9 for the five of us (late August sailing) for less than five thousand. This does not include air and transfers because we drive down.

It depends on when in November you are sailing. Off season, you can book an adult for $799 plus $42 tax. That is low end, cat 11 or 12. You can check prices at the DCL site. Just pretend that you are making a reservation but stop before you give them payment info. You can also get an idea on www.vacationstogo.com

I booked Cat 6 and 11 for my family of five for November thru AllSeasonsTravel - it cost $5700. i had shopped around quite a bit, and know that was a good deal.

Which November cruise are you taking?:sunny:

I guess I just didn't know the cost since we booked with DVC points. We only paid for my DD. I think it was about $550. Of course I can't go anywhere for about 2 yrs, used up all my points and then some, but thougt I better get some prices so I can make a better judgement. I did get prices through Platinum Travel. Got the website from the boards somewhere, their price $5,642.00 for Cat 6 and Cat 11. That was for a Nov 2005 cruise.

Thanks for all your help::yes:: :wave2:

We have an eastern itinerary booked for Feb 5-12th (05). We booked last Feb(04) and are paying $2750 for category 9, family of 4.

Now the disney website is listing the price at $4800. That's right two thousand more, same room level, same ship, same dates.

I took about an hour one day and punched in different dates. I found this cheap one and we booked it. There were much more expensive dates all around it, before and after.

So my advice would be sit down and start punching in dates. You never know when you'll find a cheap one! Try some really far out too!

Good luck!

I know we are seeing sticker shock as we look to future cruises. We have always gone in September (the least expensive month), and we have a 7 day that we are going on soon. Next year, my girls will be in a new school (middle school / Junior High) and we have decided we need to plan to travel around the school schedule (one of our DDs has trouble in school and we don't want to make it harder on her).

Going when school is out of session is a LOT more than going when kids are in school. We are not sure if DCL will work for us after the girls are in school. We may have to go to every other year or something like that. I can't imagine saying that we won't ever go again, but we will have to be more creative about it.

Since we live in NJ we always go to Disney around the Teachers Convention. It is usually around the 1st or 2nd week in Nov. Most of the children are off for the whole week or you only have to pull them for 1 day. Being said this is the only time we could go. DS in 10 gr, DS in 7th gr and DD in 6th gr.

I know we could call it a life lesson to go on a cruise and see different things, but education is more important.

Just wondering how much other cruise lines would be at that time. Maybe the thing to do is go on a 3 or 4 night cruise and then stay in WDW.

Thanks for all the help!!

It still doesn't hurt to get a quote while onboard. We've rebooked twice while onboard and both times they were offering a special discount for several weeks including our NJ week as well as early booking discount and 10% off. Although it was still rather expensive it was over $1,500 less than the price I got from DCL's website the day we got home. If you book onboard you can always get your deposit back if you change your mind but if you don't book you lose all of your chances for a discount. Next year NJ week is a Western cruise. Western costs more than Eastern but the kids will get to experience new places.

We drive every year and it helps with the cost. We are fortunate that we live close enough that driving is an option. With a family of 5 it saves us a good deal that we can use towards the price of the cruise.
