How much is QSDP really worth?

I'm doing my very best to compare apples to apples for an August... I got a great rate through travelocity or I can go through Disney to get "free" dining. Through careful subtracting and dividing (accounting for ticket prices) I come up with a cost of about $28/night for one adult and one child on the QSDP. So, my question is do you think it's worth that?

That would entirely depend on what you plan to use it to order. The more expensive meals you order, the more "worth it" it will be.

Although $28 a night (not sure whether your calculations were per night, the way the dining plan is priced) for an adult and child to eat 2 meals at WDW sounds pretty good - it'd probably be easy to exceed that.

On the QSDP you get 2 counter services meals and 2 snacks per night of your stay. Average meal prices for an adult with drink and tax is approximately $11 ( based on prices on allears.net ) You can definately pay aroung $15 just for one meal with drink depending on what you order adn where.

Currently the QSDP also includes dessert with each of those meals. I did not calculate dessert in my figure since not everyone orders dessert with every meal. So right now you are at $22 a day for the adult for 2 meals. Add 2 snacks to that which I place at approx $3.00 each (anything under $4 that is a single servig) and you have reached your figure of $28.00 for the day.

The plan also includes a resort mug good for unlimited refills at your resort. This is valued at $13.00. You also get the convenience of having all your food pre-paid and not needing to worry about how much you are spending.

The mug portion of the QSDP at SSR is about $15, now!
Since Wolfgang Puck Express is one of my favorite places to eat at Disney, the QSDP is a good deal for my family. A meal that we would normally order there runs around $20. Even without dessert, a pasta, tea, and tax meal there is going to be about $18. Add in a less expensive counter service second meal and that mug, and we come out ahead.
I figure we end up getting the two snacks for free out of the deal daily. Even if we aren't hungry, we can use those snack credits for Smart Waters to stay hydrated. That's about $7 per person each day, every day. $$
