Booking placeholders has changed since we were on out last cruise. What is the cost of booking a placeholder cruise?

You can book two placeholders, correct? Can you transfer one to someone else afterwards? Like for example if I book two placeholders, then the second could be for my parents on our next cruise?

Do you get a discount for both staterooms if you book a placeholder or do you have to actually BOOK the cruise (with dates and everything) while onboard?

You can book two. My understanding is that one of the people in the original stateroom must be assigned to each room in the future cruise. You can use the second room for your parents, but the reservation would have to be:
Room 1: You + Parent 1 + Others
Room 2: Your Spouse/Child + Parent 2

Once on board, you and your parents can sleep weherever they want and Guest Services can fix the keys to work the way you want.

You get the discount with a placeholder except for the sailings that are blacked-out for the discount. The only advantage (as far as I know) to picking a date on board is locking in the current rate.

Yes, you can book 2 cabins, and no, you don't have to have someone from the original stateroom in each room, but both rooms have to be on the same sailing. I booked 2 cabins on my last cruise, one for myself and my hubby and one for my parents. I just needed their names and address, and we called later to add the rest of the info (birthdays, etc).

No. At least one of the people between the two reservations must remain on the reservation in order for both rooms to get the OBB perks.

The actual wording on the Onboard booking flyer:
"name changes to the reservation may be made so long as one adult on the original booking remains on the reservation."

The reservations can be set up originally as OP and family in one room and parents in the second. Or, if they're not sure the parents are going to be the ones in the room, they should put one spouse in each room, and switch them out (moving spouse back to original room) when they figure out whose going to be on the second room.
