How Much Is Charged?

When you rent a car through National does anyone know how much they authorize and hold on your credit card account? Any info is much appreciated! Just want to plan accordingly!

If I remember correctly they don't charge you anything to make or hold a reservation. Once you pick up the car your charged for the length of your reservation including taxes and any other fees associated with the rental. Upon your return as long as it's within the aloted rental time, they will check the car for any damage and gas and adjust your bill accordingly. This is when you'll receive the final receipt. As long as you have no other charges, this receipt should reflect what your orriginal reservation estimate was.

My experience with National has been that they post the charge when you return the car.

That is what I remember also, and that was in Feb. Alamo charges at the time of rental as does Avis. Dollar charges up front plus a deposit.
