Hi Gang

Just wondering... how much is an annual pass? I've read it may be better for me to get an annual pass and an AP rate at a Disney resort then just booking the resort and getting UPH tickets.

We're thinking next June at a deluxe resort.

Thanks,
Andy

I just bought APs a few weeks ago and the price including tax was $404(adult) & $343(child). I bought them at the Disney store which I found to be the lowest price.

AndyMcV, since you are Canadian, you will have to wait until you get to Orlando to purchase your AP. But with the lodging discounts and multiple visits within the same 12 month period, the AP can be well worth it. The current price, with tax, come to us$403.64, while the children's pass comes to us$342.93.

For a full analysis of the pros and cons of getting an AP, check out Deb Wills' AllEarsNet.com; this is the best full breakdown I have seen.

Good luck!

You can order an AP from the Disney Stores in Canada. They take about 2 weeks to arrive. Since the exchange rate is improving, you might actually save money by buying in the US.

I have written in my Disney notes...403.64 for Adult and 342.93 for Child. These are the APs for the parks. We decided to get APs for the discount for our trip in Dec. We had a AAA rate at POR, but still saved over 150.00 with the AP. Only one person needs to have an AP for the room rate. If you are staying at a deluxe, you will probably save much more and make at least one AP worth it. The premium APs are $531.46 Adults (10 and older); $451.58 Children (3-9). This will be closer to what an UPH would have provided. It also gives you a good excuse to make another trip, either short weekend getaway or another family trip. Really get your money's worth out of them that way. We are also taking a trip in June, so we know our purchase of the APs will more than pay for them with the savings. Don't forget the savings at restaurants for lunch and shopping at some stores. All that adds up.

This might give you more info.

AP's are the best route when going to Disney. We booked our room @ POP from Feb 1-10 and saved $300 with the AP discount!!!!

Oooh, I'm glad you posted this question- I was just wondering how much PAP's were with tax now!

Thanks for the info!

Yes, you can get good discounts with an AP. Recently Disney has been giving discounts in flat $ amounts ( $85-90 discount)HOwever, lately, the general public room only code gets you a discount only $5 or $10 different than an AP rate ($80 discount).

Saying that, there is usually very limited rooms available when the room only discounts come out, so you have a better chance of getting a discount with the AP.

Bottom line, get APs if you are planning on going to WDW more than 8 days in 365.

This is exactly what I was going to say. DO NOT buy the APs just on the assumption that you'll get an AP discount rate. The rooms are limited and if you don't manage to snag the discount, you're not going to be happy:mad: . You can make your reservation for an AP rate without actually having one in hand. You just have to have it when you check in.

Just Curious about something... we booked a vacation for the first week of Feb. using the AP discount, however we have yet to but our AP. Someone posted that Canadians can't buy them till they get to Florida but on another thread I was told that we could buy them on the phone or order them online. If anyone knows I'd appreciate it. If I can't buy them till I get to Florida... will my hotel hold my luggage for me while I go to a park to buy them????

Thanks

Tracey

Someone posted on this thread that we can order them through a Disney store here in Canada. It takes a couple of weeks to get here. I'd phone your local Disney store and ask.

Keep in mind that APs do not include visits to the waterparks, Pleasure Island or Disney Quest. UPH tickets and Premium Annual Passes (more expensive) do include those things.

If you get an AP, you will need to pay separately for visits to the waterparks, Pleasure Island or Disney Quest. An AP may still be the best choice - it will just depend on your personal touring plans.

Best wishes -

If you're flying into MCO, you can also buy them at The Magic of Disney (Disney store). It will be an activated pass and not a voucher though.

You can buy them at the Disney stores here in Canada. You just have to call in advance and they come in about 2 weeks and then you pick em up and pay for them. We did it a few years ago with PAP's and it worked great. We got the vouchers and just had to activate them on our first day in the parks. We didn't do the room discounts at that time because we got a better deal with the Canadian at Par package. We're going again next year and we'll get PAP's again and we'll buy them ahead of time too because that way we can spread out the cost!
