How much is an annual pass - how much are the typical discounts?

We didn't buy our tickets yet and thought that maybe an annual pass would be better. We'll be down there for two weeks and don't know how many days we'll need in the parks.
We already have a place booked off site for this visit, but I was wondering if we came back around Christmas how much the discounts for rooms would be then? Could you give me an example of what the room rates be for specific accomodations that you've stayed in?
What else comes with an annual pass? Free parking?

I don't have an AP, but have looked in to it. Discounts (resorts, restaurants, shopping...)vary and are offered at certain times, but there are often other benefits, like parking, park hopping, etc....go to www.disneyworld.com do a search on annual passes to learn about current discounts and rewards for the program, cost, etc. I am sure others on this board would know much more on annual passes than I would. We usually only get to the World once a year and only for 4 days so I have not purchased one (yet!)....

We have been purchasing AP for the past several years. We plan summer trips so that they are 51 weeks apart so we are getting about 14 days on each years pass. If you are going to be in the part for 6 to 7 days it is a break even without considering the discounts. If you can get a resourt discount it really pays. We have gotten the AKL for about $120 per night on two trips when the rack rate is about $250. Also get discounts on some meals etc.

Go for the AP pass!!

We bought annual passes last year because both of our families were going to at the same time. I didn't want to worry about sending 1/2 a day here and 1/2 day there. It was nice because you didn't worry if you were just going over to see the fireworks.
We used the passes to get free parking each day and got some discounts for our purchases at World of Disney store in Downtown disney. We are going back down Easter week and they did not have any available for hotel discounts ( at least that I could afford the rep. offered me a suite in GF of $6000.00 for 3 nights!!!)
