How much is a speeding ticket in Georgia?

Uh where did you come up with the 5 miles thing? A police officer can visually see you speeding and pull you right over. There is no requirement that they follow you. As for how the area was marked, I really don't know. And I doubt she came out of her car screaming at you, unless something caused that.

if they pull you over just on sight, they can only ticket you for driving too fast for conditions..to give a ticket with an actual speed on it..they would obviously have to follow you to gauge your speed..I agree that 5 miles is excessive..I think it's more like 1/10th or 1/4th a mile....

Oh right, I forgot there are some people out there that still beleive there is no such thing as in irrational cop...

tricia.

Mickey 88, I guess it depends on state law. Anyway, yeah usually they do follow behind for a bit, BUT, a camero is a pursuit car and used for traffic enforcement, my money is on that there was a radar gun in that car, so really the distance does not matter. :)

Irrational cops do exist, as do irrational people.

to the best of my knowledge radar can only be used in a car that is parked, any reading taken in a moving vehicle would be inaccurate...

1. What exactly is the speed limit on I-95 in Georgia?

2. Has anyone here ever gotten a ticket for going about 5 mi over the speed limit in GA?

Thanks.

Ok everybody, calm down. For a second I thought I took a wrong turn (pun intended) and wound up at the Debate Board.

My thread was partially tongue-in-cheek. That part about doing 100 to make it in 8 hours and our van can totally do this, that would be me "trying" to be funny.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice and opinions. Reading some of these stories sure makes me think twice about driving.

I'm off to look for cheap airfare.

Boy oh boy llebrekniT you sure know how to stir up the pot. Geesh! Yeah, some people don't understand here at the CB we don't argue. That's for the DB. Go back and stay there if you can't "get" it..........she was kidding. Do you think someone would actually ask about going 100mph on the boards? Ok, ok....maybe they would and did....but it was a JOKE. :teeth: We are kind of funny over "here" like that. ::yes::

Sorry Tinkerbell, I just feel the need to support my women and men in blue.

Mickey 88, thanks, I missed the part where the car was already in motion.
