does anyone have an approximate on how much a cab ride is from the all star resorts to universal? is there a cheaper way if it's expensive? any help would be great!!!!

$35 one way. It does depend where in Disney you are coming from.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a Disney/Universal Bus loop set up by Disney & Universal betwen the Disney Central Transportation Hub and the Universal/IOA park?

Seems it would benifit both parks as much as the general public. (ie I would be happy to stay in Disney Resorts and have more parks on the menu, and U/IOA would get attendence)

You can rent a car for the day for less then a roundtrip cab - even when adding $10 for parking and gas. National and Alamo are at the Dolphin and at the Car Care Center - but you need to reserve ahead.

Will NEVER happen. Disney killed a proposed light rail line because it would've has a stop at Universal. Magical Express, free dining the length of your stay--WDW is all about making sure its guests have neither the desire nor means to go off-property.

I don't know why I didn't think of that! What a great idea.

I tell everyone to rent the car. The convience factor makes up for the extra money you'll spend in gas, parking fees, and the rental car fee itself. You can go to any restaurant you want, stock up a cooler from a Publix grocery store, and explore the I-drive area. Plus you could drive over to Busch Gardens Tampa.

Depending on how large a vehicle is needed, I have always been able to rent a car for one day from National or Alamo at the Dolphin for under $50 after taxes. So unless you'll be on the toll roads or doing lots of driving, your rental car plus $10 to park at Universal plus gas should cost no more than a roundtrip cab plus tip. If you have the Entertainment book - there is a double upgrade coupon that you can use with National, as well as a nice little discount (~ 10%). Alamo has a one category upgrade coupon in the Entertainment book. Reserve the car as far in advance as possible, then keep checking to see if rates have gone down.
