The resort planning is what I LOVE the most. Oh, sweet agony, it is big fun for me. My eyes glaze over while viewing the virtual tours, not to mention the DIS resort pic thread. :cloud9:

A true labor of love, I make charts and lists with pros and cons of each resort I am considering. I rate each resort in order of preference. I do all this even though it will boil down to discounts and availability in the end.

When I make the final resort decision, I research the resort. If I did not do this, I would go through serious withdrawl since I am no longer able to indulge in resort choosing. But I also check the Disney site for my daily fix to see if availability has opened up at a resort that was higher on the list (the thrill of the hunt).

I have stayed at five different resorts on nine separate trips, which means I have so much more to explore. :hyper: And rather than revisit a favorite, although I have, I live to try a new resort.

I don't enjoy as much the park planning. Believe it or not, that is more of a chore. I think it's because there is so much to consider.

I don't enjoy planning the dining portion because I don't like being tied down to a park because I have an ADR there. I know it really is the only way to enjoy the hot restaurants, though, so I am probably going to have to become a better planner....

... if only I could stop thinking about resorts... the lobbys, the pools, the perks, the different eateries, a favorite brownie in a favorite food court, crossing that certain bridge, hearing the clippity clop of horses hooves, the nostalgia of staying at the same resort 10 years later, and most of all, the adventure behind exploring a new resort. What can I say, I am a resortaholic!

I chose "can't decide, all 3" because all 3 play a part in our overall enjoyment. I do plan our resort choice 1st, then which parks on what day, then the restaurants in that order, but all 3 figure into the "fun" equation equally. :thumbsup2

Nice thread:thumbsup2

I voted resorts......

Cause I want to try them all....

My next fun thing is the restaurants.....

I actually like planning all my ADR's....:confused3

But I love the research that comes with trying a new resort:love:

The resort is #1 :thumbsup2
:wizard: Then we pick our park days/nights
Last we pick our ADR's for what park we will be in :goodvibes

Although I enjoy thinking about the parks and the restaurants, I get the most planning enjoyment from selecting, and then looking forward to, my resort choice. I tend to spend as much time at the resort as I do in the parks, so my resort choice is extremely important. Sometimes I go for a long weekend and don't even go to the parks, which really makes the resort important.

I love researching resorts. But the rest of my family loves the Wilderness Lodge so much that they don't want to try anything else! Maybe I'll have to do a solo or girlfriends trip someday so I get to stay somewhere else! :rotfl:

Wow, Tinkerbellmagic! What a beautifully written post. I could not say it any better. You must feel just like me.

For the longest time, I didn't realize that the DISBOARDs had any areas available to visit other than the Resorts Board. I thought that was all that there was. I had tunnel vision.

And now that I know, I still visit here almost exclusively. I will take a peak at the Rumors Board or go check out a restaurant or look for info on a new ride, but the Resorts Board is where ALL the action is for me.

I love planning (in fact, love dreaming about my time in a Disney Resort). On my last trip to the Wilderness Lodge, I could have been perfectly happy never leaving the resort. It was fun to have a special place to go for dinner and to look forward to a park opening or a character breakfast--BUT give me my resort any day, and I am a happy duck!

Oh, thank you! What a sweet thing to say!
Yes, it does sound like we are a lot alike. And I notice you checked into WL the day I checked out last Aug 2006. Nice to know I was leaving the resort in such good hands.. heehee.

I have enjoyed my stays at POP 1x, Poly 4x, POR 2x, and YC 1x, but never fell hopelessly in love with a resort until I stayed at WL...a magical vacation...... though POR tugs at my nostalgic heart strings with the memories of Dixie Landings as our first onsite stay. That is really when I became a resortaholic. Going back to POR 8 years later in 2005, I got choked up just looking at the telephone booths next to the restrooms, remembering the phone call I made there in 1997 when dd was a little girl and we needed to check on our kitties back home. ;)

I do this too. I picture myself at the resort before we arrive. The scent of the lobby. The happy people on their way to the pool, towels in hand. And what is it about going down the hall for ice? :cloud9:

We will be staying at CSR this upcoming trip. I am looking forward to walking around the lake. I have paged through the pics on Buzz's site and am happy to say that, yes, I can picture us there now. :thumbsup2
