Hi All,

I know its been asked a million times before but all circumstances are different I suppose. Also, it was over 5 years ago that we were last there and we had 2 teenagers with us so needed quite a lot of spending money but I can't remember how much we took! So.....its just the 2 of us for 2 weeks off site in an apartment, we like to eat out for breakfast half of the time and the rest we eat in, the same for lunches we will eat lunch out half the time then make sandwiches or snacks for the others. We will be eating out every night, mostly off site with 1 really nice meal out for our anniversary. So.....the big question is how much do you think we will need?

Thanks very much in advance,

Cath :thumbsup2

It's so hard to tell!

We're planning our trip as a once in a lifetime holiday - so we're splurging!

We're staying on site for two weeks, with Disney Dining Plan, so for the first two weeks we're not planning much for food, maybe $500.00.

The third week we're in a villa, so we're budgeting $120/day for two adults and three children. About $800 for the week.

On top of that, we're saving our work bonus for spending money and treats - about $4,000.00-ish. We'll almost definitely come back with extra, but that's better than not having enough!

That doesn't help you much! Sorry!

But, when my partner and I were considering going just the two of us, we were advised to budget about $30-50 a day each for food - treats and souvenirs are extra I guess!

Thanks for the reply, it is really difficult to know as the prices will have gone up since 5 years ago........so come on the rest of you experts........how much?

Cath :confused3

I aim for under a $100 a day for food for 2 adults and a child offsite eating.

I've done a couple of dining reports on a budget on thedibb - will try and post them here aswell in next day or two.

We budget £25 per adult per day for all meals, drinks, transport and shopping, and always come back with change.

Oh, thanks for the speedy replies :) We were thinking about $100 per day then maybe a bit more for spending money as DH wants or should I say NEEDS some new clothes so he isn't getting anything before we go! He is still wearing the Ralph Lauren t-shirts he bought there 5 years ago......really nice cotton and at $12 each really good value for money.....anyway enough of that for now. Also, we don't want to take it all in cash so any tips on cards or travellers cheques etc.

Thanks very much and looking forward to the eating on a budget report it will make for an interesting read and will go down in my book of places to eat. :thumbsup2

Hi, I'm struggling with the same dilemma, just how much money do you need. We're traveling to wdw in June from Manchester. We've got the Disney dining plan included plus all of our transfers to and from the parks. We also fancy a day trip to seaworld, at the moment we have $2600 but not sure if I need more? What do you all think?

Hi, how many are there going? It sounds plents to me if you have the dining plan but depends how much you want to treat yourself. I find it good to go through the trip reports because loads of people go into fine detail about how much meals cost etc and put on some lovely pics for us to drool over so it gives us a good idea but it is nice to see how much other people take with them. I would always prefer to take more money and bring some home.......ready for the next time!

Hi,

I'm doing a solo trip in November:banana: and was planning on take around $2000.00 for two weeks.

I found out last week that our hours are going to be cut back at work:sad:, therefore my monthly pay will be less the normal.

I was debating whether to cancel this trip as i know money is going to be tight from now on. So I got my list out and starting cutting things off my holiday plan, to try and save some pennies.

As this holiday is my 50th birthday treat, my family told me not to cancel it.

My lovely mum, brother and 2 sisters have said they would chip in $500.00 between them as one of my birthday presents:woohoo: I'm going to be saving what I can from now till the end of October. I'm slightly disappointed that I won't have all the spending money I had planned.

This holiday can't come quickly enough for me now, its been a long 7 years since I last went to Florida:thumbsup2.

Hi Maureen, that sounds like LOADS of money for a solo trip! Glad you're not cancelling, you would be really gutted. Is there any way you could make up any more money by doing some extra work ie.a bit of cleaning for someone or taking in some ironing, doing some car boot sales, well something like that. We run a tree surgery business and I have to go out and help sometimes but all I think about is our upcoming holiday!! I also do some gite cleaning and sometimes do some washing and ironing but my main job is a nail technician which I really enjoy but are still setting this up......anything for the "florida fund". You must be really excited about it as you haven't been for 7 years.......its 5 for us so we are all ready for it me thinks. When in November are you going? We are there 5-19 November for our 25th wedding anniversary, celebrations all round.

Keep your chin up Maureen, it will all be worth it. :thumbsup2

We took 3400 last year. Tht was for 3 adults and a child. We had the free ddp for 5 nights did a 4 night cruise and then 5 nights without the ddp but ate ally's meals. We also put $800 towards DVc and spent 1300 at the shopping malls. We bought 165 home. We didn't scrimp at all. I'm sure your 2600 will be plenty. X

If you have dining plan you will be fine with very little spends - you just needs tips and shopping money.

For seaworld it's usually cheaper to buy a 1 day ticket online rather than paying at the gate.

Have put my budget dining reports on the uk trip reports board tonight - links in my signature.

It depends on so many things,

If you're on DDP you can do $50 a day and be fine!

Last time I went there was 1 adult and 2 children, we took $2000 and it was just about right.

This time there are 2 adults and 3 children and are aiming for $3.5/$4k We're not on the DDP and have a lot of ADR's booked so a lot will go on that.

We're also getting married there :D

Although we are in a villa this time so can buy food to cook for our other meals which will be cheaper than eating out.

I always say figure out the minimum you will need, make sure you have at least that, but try to take more if you can :D

My target was $3k, I reached a week or so ago so I'm no aiming for $4k, I have 4 months to save it up :D
